Any ETA on the dedicated servers not being able to use the editor explore maps? This is a massive problem for those of us trying to use all the cool new features? IS IT EVEN UNDER REVIEW YET?

    Lazy Players..

That looks cool. But at this time we can't use this on our servers. It will not work. Once we get that issue sorted I may look into it.

One could question if you dislike griefing, why you bait for it.

You can't change the spawn on explore generated maps. We can't use the editor generated explore maps because of the above mentioned server issues. As I said, it just isn't possible at this time.

Chat while in editor? Will it be possible to have multiple players in editor? This would be amazing.

    RESOLVED Multiplayer issues

What we do is have everyone log off. Have one designatedperson log back in, sleep til daylight, then all come back in.
  10. Explore generated maps still working. Kind of . There are some major issues with power barrier failure but thats a different issue related to the recent hotfix, I think. I can not make any map started in the editor work as a .ylandsgame uploading to our servers. The BI servers have no problem. It works there. Not on any other server I have found. Multiplayer does not happen without a server. It is the gateway. Close the gate, no one can play. You know what you call multiplayer without servers working? Single player. You call it single player. All the work you did to improve the multiplayer experience is wasted if servers can't accept your game. The whole big 0.12 experience... flushed right down the toilet.

    Lazy Players..

Something to keep in mind, this is still EA. Even griefers provide unintentional service. They show exploits and weaknesses. There are things we could do, but nothing worth getting excited about until we can actually upload the editor explore maps to the game. The server issue just won't allow for us to design our games with antigriefing at the moment. Servers must be fixed. Nearly a month now and no response from BI to even acknowledge the problem exists. Much less what the fix will be. I have been told the BI servers use a different software from what is available to players on dedicated servers. Give us that software. The BI servers work beautifully, they accept the new map type, it's great. Give dedicated server administrators software that will play your game. Everything else having to do with multiplayer is pointless without it. It's like locking the gymnasium doors and wondering why no one is playing inside. Fix. This.

    RESOLVED Multiplayer issues

I am still having problems getting my editor explore games on our servers. I get them to .ylandsgames file but they won't work. It sends the server into an endless restart loop. These same files work beautifully on the BI server, but not the nitrado server. I have been told to do something with the .json file. With nitrado we don't have access to that. As I understand it, they maintain those dedicated server files, and what we work with is a simplified version. Our uploads have to have the name SessionSave.ylandsgame. We are nearly a month out and I still can't use the new file type. I don't know if the issue is nitrado, or BI? I do know my files are working, so it's not me or my computer. I need help. @RedEagle_P1.

Some features I would love to see added: Can barriers be made to show who they belong too? Please please turn on the avatar names in editor so they look like the ones in explore. Or alternatively, some way to easily get to/ see characters. Another game I play has an ingame mailbox. Inside there are game functions, but you can also "email" other users and also attach items. So you can give gifts, building supplies, etc. Could something like this be implemented?

New File Types and Editing Maps

I have been told not to upload thise file types. @RedEagle_P1.
  16. Can someone help me understand the new file type and how to use them? Most of my time in ylands is spent taking care of the P1 PVE maps. This used to be fairly straight forward. Now it is really confusing. When you export a game to local file, it puts it in a new folder called Games (as opposed to SaveGames) and gives it two different file types: YGT and YST. I can't figure out how to access these in the game. We use Nitrado, and it behaves very differently to the BI servers. We have to change the .ylandsgame file to SessionSave.ylandsgame. BI seems to upload it without changing the file name in any way. I need to be able to edit both straight explore games and modded explore games. Currently this is very random as to whether I can even see the games in the editor or not. I need a turorial on how you intend the different style maps to work.

New File Types and Editing Maps

One of the things you guys said you wanted to do better was communication. With the last update things changed drastically in how I can manage (or not) my servers. Everything is harder now, because there is no instruction on the changes. This question has been up nearly a week with no response from devs. I need some help understanding the new file types. @Ane? @Aleš Ulm Anyone?

    Blueprinting 101

I should mention, if you don't know, that colors do blueprint, so if you paint something it will build that way in blueprinting. This is especially useful if you are wanting to have something with the alpha painting in the world.

    Blueprinting 101

Maybe this is a topic that's not needed, but I thought I would share what I do to make blueprints. First of all, you have to be on an explore map. And you have to be under your barrier. I generally don't try to blueprint the builds I do out in the wild. I mostly build on maps that I have access to the files in editor, so you may not be able to do this. I make compositions of those in the editor and I may or may not blueprint, because it is an extra step. What I usually do when I want to blueprint things is to start an SP Explore Map. In the old days you could name your map, I don't see that as an option now. then I go in, take my barrier out of inventory (unrepaired) and put it on the ground beside me. Then I pull that map into my editor and do a few things. I find a large spot to level, clear it of vegetation and rocks and suck. Then I duplicate my barrier, making usually a dozen. I give myself a cube and then save. I also place out a container of some sort, not for security because I am by myself, but so I can put my extra barriers away and not lose them. Now I have a place ready to build and blueprint. Or I can plop down a composition in editor. Be sure to unweld entity before saving. There is one downside to using the cube. You will sometimes place items that can not be crafted and therefore can not be blueprinted. And some items, while craftable, do not blueprint. This is my set up for blueprint island.

    0.12 Update first impressions

Is it by design that in optimized maps, boulders are indestructible?
  24. So far, I really like it. What little I have done in the editor tonight was good, new changes, but nothing screamingly unfamiliar. I like it. I really like the new UI. It will take some getting used to where everything is. But I do think it's better. The in game UI, also better. I do like the "C:" to get a better look at things. No more violent bouncing around when you get into tight spaces. Is it my imagination? Or is the little cursor dot gone? I tried a blueprint, it worked first time. I love that you added what the blueprint needs in the blueprint menu screen. Also, I haven't tried it yet, but thank you for allowing the sharing of blueprint files. All in all, at this point, I am loving the update. But ice still isn't clear. ?
