Adrie's Shipyard

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I'll post some of my creations, so far they have mainly been ships.

First off is my modular ship design. By raising the deck 3 blocks I can use the outboard walkways for storage, while making the construction look very low and sleek. The ship is divided in certain parts which can be chosen for it's intended purpose. For example instead of the rear 4 cargoholds you could have a larger backside with more sleeping rooms to transport more passengers instead of cargo. The design also features an advanced cargo locking system, so you only need 1 key to lock off all the containers and can lock/unlock them all in one click. See the pictures on how this works! ,

This ship is the first of this series, I called it Kamenka (guess how the 2nd will be named :D). It currently isn't 100% finished, I am waiting for a fix for placing doors on ships and it needs a little bit more decoration. Also I haven't found out if there is any difference in sailing speed, if I find a quicker sail plan I will probably switch to that.

Some exterior shots

The single key cargo system. All the chests will be covered by energy doors, all connected with END gates to a small hatch in the front of the ship. In this hatch is also the anchor lever. The hatch will be shut by a normal locked door with a key.

Ylands_170529_020547.thumb.png.3ca198239e2b4f1cd3bf508188291c82.pngYlands_170529_020730.thumb.png.51dd18624e6b7b612efdc404dbe37455.pngYlands_170529_020726.thumb.png.2c0c38bd471090d8fbb439c181d6d571.png

The steering cabin is in the center of the ship. It gives good 360 degree vision. Below the cabin is a lot of wiring for all the lighting onboard. In the cabin are 2 levers, one for the cabin lighting and one for the light on the front of the ship. The cabin still needs an exterior door and doors to the sleeping room and the living compartment!

Ylands_170529_020743.thumb.png.bbbcc6e756d5e3907195cd7ac110ad52.pngYlands_170529_020750.thumb.png.8c6b444013cbdc7186642d9d7a5d64e2.png

Towards the back of the cabin is the sleeping room. There's a double bed, a light and a few drawers.

Ylands_170529_020802.thumb.png.08d64f0e22e58f6584889f483c09e882.pngYlands_170529_020811.thumb.png.0a7be1393c73494cc1583711973b6324.png

Front from the cabin is the living compartment and a small bathroom. The living room features tables, chairs, a stove, some storage space for enough food and a light as well.

I also tried to make the smaller boat more useful. I've added 2 chests and a torch into the design, it now has got 18 slots for storage which makes it far more useful, especially considering it won't beach as easy as a larger ship. It's still very plain and functional, I haven't figured how to decorate it yet.

Ylands_170529_020946.thumb.png.bda2d63ffcc59bee73f71747b3bca9a1.png

Because there is no anchor and it's difficult to get the boxes right I've tried to come up with a way to make it easy to build such ships in survival. The oriental logs are free placed on short stubs for alignment. When the boat is ready all you have to do is pick up the logs and it will fall into the water :) Then you can reattach the logs and make another one!

The last one actually isn't made by me, my girlfriend made this with just a little help ;) Also this ship has been made a few patches ago since we were able to place doors on ships back then. Also there is no anchor yet :)

Upstairs is a large bedroom with a nice view, downstairs a kitchen with a small outdoors sitting area on the back.

Thanks for taking a look!

Thanks for the responses guys :D Besides the occasional accidental annihilation of the entire shiphulls (I now make backups every 5 minutes) it wasn't that much work. Especially the first ship has been designed so that it's really easy and quick to build more of them, also material wise :)

Excellent work!

I'm going to crib the temporary dock idea! ;)

I too like to put a torch on the front of the small boat but it did bob around a lot and make it tricky. Not any more, thanks! :)

Be sure to put the middle of the boat on the middle of ONE of the beams, not right in between two of them, because it will tip over and fall straight in the water. Alternatively you can use panels or straight beams instead :)  I tried to make it more realistic looking but by trying they never rested 100% flat unfortunately.

There's a small ylandium generator in the front at the moment. If necessary I could place a windmill in between the sails without it looking too odd :)

Ofcourse we do! And therefore I can't just leave my boats outside, so I decided to make a small boat pen to test the whole concept.

Ylands_170530_075545.thumb.png.7cb74db605eee37e5371250c1e86c85c.png

What's better to do when you come back from some trading, fishing or exploring then docking your boat ofcourse :)

Ylands_170530_075641.thumb.png.7b7f6bdea75853a5bee68dcbc1f7dea1.png

I've placed a seagull totem over the main boat door. Hope they help me discover some new places ;)

Ylands_170530_075655.thumb.png.c8fead5617c2498f8512bbf5bdf7fdcf.png

Doors open, ready to dock! Below the doors is a net to keep sharks out.

Ylands_170530_080220.thumb.png.1417924a2d807578530742cc9298b0b4.png

And it's in! It's a really tight fit height wise, in fact the top of the mast even clips the doorway.

Ylands_170530_080150.thumb.png.ff93377b78fa4e238b4dcf18076aae28.png

Enough of the fancy night pictures, let's have a look by daylight:

Ylands_170530_083209.thumb.png.45485f0591d00999ef73cbf97895ee25.png

As you can see it's a fairly small and easy construction and shouldn't be too hard to build in multiplayer :)

As always, thanks for watching, commenting and upvoting!

also, that is a huge door.. devs, i'd like a porteculis or drawbridge styled huge-door too..

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! You can dive under the foundations when you are inside but you can't dive under the doors, I've placed the same metal bars as in the windows. Also keeps the sharks out :) The doors are stacked on top of eachother and the right ones are upside down to get the rotation and alignment right. And indeed we could do with some larger size doors :D

Good way to lock a boat away in multiplayer, if the doors can be locked! Else some wondering vagabond could make off with yours jack sparrow style! :P

A harbour would be another way if there was some kind of lockable "sea-gate" or draw-bridge! Could keep all your ships locked in your marina.:)

Especially once it hits Steam... Geez, it will be: Start game, log in to a server, build a raft, steal a ship / kill the owner for his "booty"! It will be a pirate game for sure if no further options are added to manage this factor! Explore mode anyway.

Could add an option to lock a ship? Though this seems unrealistic, perhaps you could remove the ships wheel and carry it with you!

No idea really, I can just see a lot of Steam pirates in the future...

*Edit* You could put the ships wheel and / or anchor inside a small room, with a locked door!

Oh yes! Doors can be locked but in this setup it requires 4 keys. If you delete the bottom doors it looks worse but you can put some more fencing there so people can't swim in and it will only require 2 keys.

I'll be hosting a Explore mode server ASAP to see how this will work out. And that's a clever idea, maybe make a narrow passage where your large ship fits right through and then use the doors to make it just too narrow. Or maybe put a few of those on the bottom of the gate like the poles you see in the street :) Energydoors would make this work even better, then hide the lever behind a door which requires a key :D

On doors: Currently they are non symmetrical in any direction, and only open in 1 direction with no option to change this. Also the door isn't on the centre of the grid, depth wise. It's impossible to make any double doors without placing the 2nd door upside down, and in this case it doesn't look bad but doors with windows in them usually look funny upside down :P Also having doors just 1 block wider and maybe 2 higher would be an additional welcome for use as exterior doors or bigger garages! I think I've said this already somewhere else but I couldn't find it with the search so I guess I must've dreamed :P

Thanks for noting everything all the time! :)

Hey all! With the new car update coming, I've decided to build a car ferry on my modular boat platform idea, called the Komarovo :)  As soon as I find out how to upload it on Ylands.net it will be there!

The design features a split level cabin as on my previous modular boat. This one will be powered, there will be a coal engine under the steering cabin. On the front is a car deck that should house at least 4 cars, considering they look to be 8 blocks wide. On the back of the ship is a closed cabin with a fairly simple sitting area, with access to a small "balcony" on the back. On top of this is a larger open deck on which people can enjoy the nice views when the weather is good.

First some exterior shots now!

Ylands_170801_192100.thumb.png.4f2c413271ce6d0d3b909da3ec0ef692.pngYlands_170801_192109.thumb.png.ecae344f07067015b86fdd52d62e7922.pngYlands_170801_192115.thumb.png.514f0f7387836409ec78134a60f9be68.png

Now for the loading ramp. It uses 2 doors mounted on the side, so people can drive on and off the ship. The ramps are completely flush with the pier and should prevent any cars from falling off in rough seas!

Ylands_170801_190638.thumb.png.ea8e77dbc3903e781963039bcc3b5c75.png

Now for the engine bay. Currently there is a Ylandium generator there to switch on the lights, but this will be replaced by a coal engine ASAP :)

Ylands_170801_190652.thumb.png.17b891f1415124ad79b786b5baee8876.png

Next up is the small passenger cabin. The decoration and Energy wiring isn't finished, they will as soon as I can place the new engine :)

Always wonderful looking ships by you!

Regarding getting them on the workshop - there is a slight bug with saving the energy wiring with ship compositions at the moment it seems, apart from that however you can see me ripping a ship out of a map @ 3:27 of this video - https://youtu.be/fQBzwmJjWOg?t=3m27s

Worth noting is that if you just highlight a ship it doesn't give you the option to create a composition - to achieve this, highlight the ship, then Ctrl and click a block on the ship that you have built, then right click that, it will show the create composition option, then you can deselect the block and it will allow you to create a composition by right clicking the selected ship!

Once you have a composition of it saved, click on it in the composition tab, and down the bottom is a button that packs it for upload, find the file and can upload the .ycp file to the workshop.

I know it's not a ship, but here's my next vehicle:

Ylands_170901_140000.thumb.png.9778d07f14a4f3891604f2f6f7055f49.png

It's a Praga V3S, which I'm sure many have driven in Arma2 or DayZ Standalone :) It runs a single Ylandium Engine and therefor is a little underpowered, but on the flipside you can recharge them for free and it won't cause any pollution!

Ylands_170901_140013.thumb.png.8330d512cca7e5f912a1d3da9a416f9f.png

Here's a look at the interior! Hidden under the floor is a small heater to keep you warm in case you take it to the polar regions!

Ylands_170901_140019.thumb.png.fc34c462b400c1669386da5b95791553.png

Plenty of space in the back! I've already designed multiple "addons" to put on the back such as a camper attachment and a passenger cabin.

Ylands_170901_140025.thumb.png.e90ff0defa539fbe09c72fa79ec5fe9e.png

Here's the switch for the heater, the light switch is on the other side.

Ylands_170830_152740.thumb.png.ccb6ab3baeed6d3cb07d0c49b3cfbea5.png

Currently the lights are non functioning bulbs, because the table lamps are bugged. When they are fixed I will place the table lamps as front lights which can be switched on with the lever. In this screenshot you can see how it should look like in the editor.

https://ylands.net/asset/78

Here's the workshop link for it, have fun with it and let me know what you think :)

Hey all!

Building the cars is really a lot of fun, but I just can't stop building ships :) This time I've challenged myself to make a ship on the small ship hull, and it had to be something more modern. Because of the size I didn't care much for having multiple rooms indoors. One thing that was definitely needed however is a anchor lever behind a door so I can safely lock the ship in multiplayer for now.

Anyways, I hereby present you my latest ship, the Balota!

Ylands_170906_175028.thumb.png.220d9ca70eea88a765beb5ac2428cd79.png

Ylands_170906_175314.thumb.png.e86049b3e2cde64492ebc7f190184210.pngYlands_170906_175322.thumb.png.0b50dd58a8d2424b1a94dfe0f6b7e277.pngYlands_170906_175329.thumb.png.22081ea9856f26c67862a035cbde9fc0.png

I tried my best, combining a very old style hull with a modern top structure. I've tried to draw a line on the side stretching from the side windows all the way to the back to break up the large side to make it look less tall. In the front you can see some interior parts clipping through the hull, but I actually liked the detail so I decided to keep it this way.

Ylands_170906_175408.thumb.png.05a43b7e506de5806c5788d86cb8a130.png

The desk consists of a steering area, a stairs going down, a nice big lounge area and on the back deck 2 stretchers for some sunbathing.

The lounge area features a retractable bimini, so those who enjoy the shade can also be outside :) It also gives the boat a more cozy feeling outside, since most of the surface area is outside on the deck. The rear stretchers also have their own sunprotection.

Ylands_170906_175635.thumb.png.7dee0600c197e613cc543ada9e13afbf.png

Under the deck towards the rear of the boat is a compartment hiding 6 small steam engines and the anchor lever. The engines are able to give the boat very quick acceleration and speed and the hatch can be locked so the boat can be left in the harbor, safe from thieves :)

Ylands_170906_175952.thumb.png.c38de560a3d811d3fa348f09f5f66f3a.pngYlands_170906_175956.thumb.png.5a31253b67754fb6a0ef9502b53f15f6.png

The lower deck stairs access can be locked :)

Downstairs we find a toilet, dining table plus chairs, a double bed with loads of storage space, and a kitchen with a stove. The stairs is made out of marble.

Ylands_170906_180240.thumb.png.6ebd0bb7e8e24adf20955de79bb388cd.pngYlands_170906_180309.thumb.png.de093191ebf197a943dd01cc62159ce4.pngYlands_170906_180328.thumb.png.a537ad078ecbc84caf666316252fc10c.png

The sleeping area is comfy and quite spacious! It features some simple decoration as well as loads of storage space for clothes and all other things you need on your journeys.

The top windows feature blinds which can be closed during nights or to keep the sun out during the day. However if you leave them open you can sleep under the stars :)

And that's it for this project. Things I still need to do is add some storage for fuel and I didn't do any interior lighting yet, as I'm waiting to see what's gonna happen with all the energy items.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks! I don't know if you've ever roamed Chernarus/understand my ship naming, but I can tell you the next one is gonna be biiiig just like the town it's gonna be named after, and even better than this one I think :) It's gonna look a lot better on the hull as well.

That is simply amazing! :)

EDIT: seeing how you're locking your ship - you will probably find tomorrow's Sneak Peek rather interesting ;)

Thanks! And do I hear you say code lock? Or keys on ship helms? Or the ultimate combination, code locks on ship helms? :D Looking forward to the sneak peek tomorrow!

I think I've outdone myself this time :D I've built the next ship in 2 evenings, it all just worked out exactly how I wanted. The idea was to make a modern sail yacht, with a few backup engines in case there's no wind. The design had to be very sleek, yet it had to give loads of space so I can take all my friends on board for a trip :) The way I've tried to do this is by having the bow only 5 high around the edge, with a raised middle part, similar to my first ship, the Komarovo. In this case however it's possible to walk under the outer ring by using sloped blocks. The limitations of this is that you can't have any doors near the edges of the ship, plus the headroom is rather minimal. Things still to do is place large masts as soon as it's possible again (In 0.5 you can't place large masts above the hull line) and I didn't bother with energy yet.

Anyway, here is my latest ship, the Chernogorsk! She features 5 bedrooms, of which 2 single rooms, and 3 double rooms. The double rooms have their own bathrooms. Every room features at least one closet for storage of clothes and other belongings. There are multiple different seating area's around the ship so everyone can enjoy themselves. There's a spacious kitchen, a central toilet, a dining area and a hidden engine room.

On to the images, all exterior shots at 65 degree FOV, interior at 70 degree FOV, one bathroom image at 80 FOV.

Here's the exterior! I wasn't happy with the Balota's windshield, so I tried to create a more natural round shaped windshield using Ice blocks. I hope we get either glass blocks or even better, sloped glass blocks soon! On the front are 2 lounge beds, on the back is a small movable table with some chairs to enjoy some drinks. The top level of the deck houses the helm.

Similar to the Balota, the Chernogorks features a part retractable roof. This way you can use the dining area and helm area in a more open and a more enclosed setting :)

The back platform has windows to give the rear hut a nice view over the horizon!

Here's the captain's place and his view! The visibility is very good in nearly all directions, including ahead of the boat. When sailing you can still have a chat with the people dining.

The dining area is open to the back, and the roof can be opened. Because it's lower than the steering platform it still gives a cozy feeling when sitting around the table.

Down the next stairs to the right/starboard we find a large kitchen with a stove and plenty of storage space. To the right is the door to the central toilet.

Opposite to the kitchen is a small relaxing area, where you can read your favorite book.

Straight ahead from the stairs is a central hallway, with on the left/port side the single bedrooms. They feature a bed and a closet (the second room's closet is on the right side behind the door). The roof windows blinds can be closed.

Opposite to the single rooms is the smallest double room. It features a double bed, it's own bathroom, a closet and a desk and chair. The roof window in the toilet is made out of ice blocks, so light will pass through it but you can't see clearly through it.

In the front is the bow hut, which is one of the 2 master bedrooms. The master bedrooms feature more space and a more luxurious interior. This one features more storage space, a large double bed and it's own bathroom again.

When going back to the central relaxing area, there's a hallway on the left/port side of the ship that leads to the back, where the second large bedroom is. In the hallway are 2 small hatches which hide both the engines. The engines are placed in such a way that you can see the fuel meter.

The second large room has a lot of windows in all directions, even from the top! It's really spacious as well, having it's own small sitting area. The bathroom is large to accommodate a hatch which hides the anchor lever.

As always, thanks for watching/reading! If you want to see any more details of the ship or if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
