  1. Well in Editor mode (and in Explore I think also) you can turn off nametags in settings. Also you can get rid of the UI using the ; key (though I am using a Czech keyboard, so it may be different). And with the command /freecamera you can fly about making screenshots. In the future we'll definitely be looking into ways of making this easier and intuitive (maybe with a camera item?) but let me know, if this helped. Or if not, what text keeps appearing?

  2. Again big congratulations to @zarwil but there were others, that were absolutely fantastic too!

And the runner-ups this week are:

    Spyler.X 1.jpg
@Spyler.X and his Egyptian adventure (Death on the Nile?)

    Christalle 1.jpg
@Christalle with her stunning discovery (love the Top Hat)

    Indomitus 1.png
And finally @Indomitus! Isn't all art first of all relatable?

But these weren't the only good screenshots, all submitted were absolutely gorgeous and we thank you so much for submitting them.

And now for next weeks competition: with all the talk of bugs and how we fight them, let's also acknowledge the good they do...they sometimes make us laugh ? So this weeks theme will be Funny Bugs. Send us your funniest bugs that happened to you for a chance to win a pile of Coyns ? And as always you have till Friday 10am to submit your screenshots either here or on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtags #pycs and #Ylandspycs

So good luck, happy screenshotting and stay classy Ylanders!

  3. Yes, if you are uploading a whole new version, the GUID must be same which means if your previous .yca file was named World.yca then next must be either World.yca or World(1).yca, if you name it like Anotherworld.yca, you cannot upload it as a new version of the same scenario, you have to upload it as a completely new asset + you must write something in the changelog + you CANNOT use any already existing name on workshop .... if you only update (pictures, thumbnails etc) you can change whatever you like. Hopúe this helps ?

  4. Thamk you for the output_logs, I'll give them to our team on Monday. This is really weird and we're going to jump right on it. Seems it's a combination of issues, because at first it sounds like

but then this should disappear after the reset and that you now also have trouble just getting into the game itself is completely new. Well I'll get the team on it on Monday and hopefully we can come up with something fast.

    Will 0.14 be before Christmas?

Definitely ? In fact you won't have to wait much longer... *He said mysteriously*

Is polishing going to be focused more on the single player rpg aspect or multiplayer aspects?

Both, and by polishing we mean fixing and making everything run smoothly and hopefully without a hitch ?

Will Ylands gets a feature in the future to be played offline?

Not possible at the moment and I don't think it's in the cards, but I'll check on Monday with Aleš ?

  6. Yet again we have had an absolute splendid week of screenshots with this week's theme: Exploration.

Thank you everyone for your screenshots, they are really great and remind us, why it is we made Ylands. Because of all of you creative individuals, that make things we wouldn't even dream to be possible.

And now to the winner. It's @zarwil with his spectacular Bunny Rabbit in space! We also had to include the 'behind-the-scenes' picture, because it was just perfect ?

    zarwil 1.png
A little hop for a rabbit...

    zarwil 2.png
    Is that Stanley Kubrick?

But don't forget to check-in on Monday, when we announce the runner ups and the next contest theme of the week. And this time it's going to be a damn good one ?

  7. Olá Ylanders!

We are nearing the big update 0.14. and all of us here are very excited for all the cool new features coming to Ylands. But you have (and quite rightly so) voiced your concern about still existing bugs and new bugs, that could potentially come with 0.14. and what is being done about them? I know that in the past it could’ve seemed nothing is being done about bugs and other problems, but that was more down to a failure to communicate with you, the community. That is why we want to share with you our plan into the future concerning this.

    Ylands 2019-08-30 13-08-20-43.jpg

Update 0.14. is the last update before release, that’s going to be “feature-heavy”. After its release, all our manpower and resources will go predominantly into polishing up the game and fixing, what needs fixing. Especially update 0.15. should be full of fixes, that some of you were waiting for quite some time. Many of the bugs you reported are being worked on even though it wasn’t acknowledged on the forums and many more have gone into the process of being fixed in the last couple of weeks. And while bug fixing wasn’t a complete priority in the past, this was due to trying to put all the features in first and then fixing all the problems connected to them, so nothing new messes with the final product. But now it will become a priority and we’ll do our utmost to get everything ready for the planned release later this year. So keep reporting those bugs, especially after 0.14, because we’ll be on a crusade to fix them all ? And don’t forget those output_logs, because they really make it much easier to quickly identify the problem and fixing it. We’ll also come up with a way to thank the most dedicated bug hunters in the future, so look out for that too ?

One of these bugs was for instance YLD-18419. The community reported, that they were having trouble connecting to dedicated servers and that an “Unspecified Error” kept popping up. First we thought, it would be a backend error, but after some more digging and after studying the output_logs it became clear, something was wrong with the game code. After that our programmers' dove in and found the miscreant and fixed the problem. Yesterday it was tested and given the green light and so this bug is now ready to be fixed in the upcoming 0.14 update.

    Ylands 2019-08-30 13-10-16-57.jpg

Now one of the big ones is, of course, the problem with the servers and their short life-span. This is connected to lag, slow down of game after a period of time playing (especially in multiplayer) and sometimes it affects even script. This all is down to the optimization of the core system. Our programmers are coming up every day with ways of rectifying this and we are looking for the right solution. Especially after 0.14 this will be the highest priority and some improvement could be present in 0.15 though hopefully even after that we’ll be able to even further improve the performance of the servers.

So in conclusion, we are working on all the issues reported but had trouble communicating this in the past. After update 0.14 we’ll be focusing all our efforts on polishing up and repairing the game. Send in bugs and output_logs, it helps us a great deal. And problems with servers are very high on our to-do list.

So stay strong and mainly stay classy Ylanders!

  8. Every week we'll bring you an Ynterview with a member of our Ylands team. In this week's Ynterview we have approached our saviour QA Lead Eva 'Eris' Rýznarová.

    Eris Business Card.png

First off, what do you do here at the Ylands team and what’d you do before you joined?

I tell people that the work they have done sucks. For money. And I encourage other people to do the same. This is my first fulltime job.

How long have you worked on Ylands? What was the 1st thing you worked on when you joined?

I officially joined the Ylands team on January 2016 and since that’s like one eternity ago, I have no memory of that time.

What do you find most exciting on Ylands in general?

There is always something broken to fix ?

And what is for you the most exciting feature coming in the new 0.14 update?

That would be the minigames.  They are incredibly fun!

What are you working on right now?

Dude, it’s getting close to the release of a new update! I am working on EVERYTHING ?

What do you do in your free time?

I like sleeping a lot, but when I am not doing that I am trying to learn things.  Lately, I have been progressing with Norwegian on Duolingo, learning to model with Blender and when I am not doing that I tend to stand from both sides of a camera. Oh and games of course

If you’d have to eat just one food till the end of your life and it had to be CZECH, which one would it be (and why)?

I would probably starve to death because traditional Czech foods consist mostly of things, I don't eat.

Well, there you have it. And if you missed our 'bonus question', visit our Facebook or Instagram ?
