for the record i wrote a comedic book ..and it was published online, but the publisher went bankrupt and honestly returned all documents including copyright to me ..however the book is still on line ..hosted in a site in Turkey, along with other pirated books from the same bankrupt publisher. Discussions with the other authors reveals trying to stop these thieves is like nailing yogurt to a concrete wall. The site is based in Turkey, using all turkey based facilities and they flaunt all laws. They ignore all copyright symbols etc..and all they are interested in is making a quick dollar. One author advised me hes spent more on legal fees and getting nowhere than he has earned with sales of his book. There's two ways to handle these thieves ....one is not to draw attention to their website so it eventually starve , and the other is to create multiple alternative websites of your own with links and higher traffic that forces the search engines to ignore the thieves websites. Aas they are only interested in profits and are not prepared to spend money promoting them they soon die when costs exceed income.

In one of my older games ( pre 0.6) i encountered a sing;e entrance and a short level tunnel to a huge cavern .. there were no offshoot tunnels just the cavern which went back right into the center of the yland ...and around the edges were ledges infested with mutants and ylandium crystals. I must have used up over 250 crossbow bolts knocking them off the walls yet they still managed to jump me.. This cavern was soooo huge that 25 lanterns had little effect.. Due to the upgrade and no rubber i abandoned that game ...i must have spent 2 real days in there firing crossbow bolts and defending myself . I would clear out one area ...run back to get more ammo and find that some had respawned behind me. One of the challenges of the game ...i even had in one game a mutant emerge from a hole i had dug into a cave/tunnel ..and it monstered me in my temporary campsite at night. Fortunately it didnt like the campfire i hurriedly lit

Regarding NPC's ... will there be a " man or girl Friday " ..as in "Robinson Crusoe" ...after all in explorer mode we are castaways..

Build a fake base.... use it as a decoy for griefers...surround it with traps etc... I am sure would be griefers would be hesitant to grief my base after several forced re-spawns. They might succeed eventually.... ...... but it would be no loss to me and a waste of time and bandwidth to them

I have already encountered such an island in exploration. It was figure 8 shaped with a mountain range in the middle separating the two biomes...desert one side with sandstone copper and sulphur and hyenas , and tropical the other with rubber iron and wolves and bears. There was a cave entrance in the central mountain area but i was not game to enter ...god knows what was mutated in there!

Have you considered a use for gravel? perhaps it could be crafted in to concrete shapes etc using it and some sand and clay? Could it be used to cast gargoyles, dado's and other decorative items for building facades, in addition to the current stone items.

I encountered a tunnel that ran parallel to a cliff face... i retreated hurriedly when i met a clump of such creatures waiting on a ledge and consulting their menu to see if i was on it So i returned to the area with a powder keg and placed it against the cliff wall on the outside where i calculated the tunnel was inside and where those nasties were waiting. Result : a new cavern opening, a huge hole and no nasties seen so far.. but then discovered further along the tunnel turns into a vertical shaft ...and i suspect it will lead nowhere productive ...my "instant mining" appears to have destroyed everything useful Sometimes these beasties lurk on ledges above you and jump from amazing heights ...

Moving around on deck must be made safer
kimbuck replied to Soondead-27d3f9fbcbfb78c3's question in Suggestions & Feedback
This is my ugly but functional ship... the stern area enclosed in glass panels... and there are ramps to "landing" points either side of the ship. The storage boxes assist the railing from dumping you overboard if to exuberant in movements. You could also use steel doors horizontally as barriers, like keralis does in his videos. you can "open" the door creating a ramp ..which you can 'retract" by closing it The current design of my ship allows me to approach bow first to the shoreline , then i use dirt and construct a causeway from the front platforms to the shoreline. I have a mooring dock that's just wide enough to accept the ship and i can embark/disembark without fear of those pesky sharks The only issue i get is sometimes a seagull might get under the side panels and cause the ship to perform ballet movements. -
There is an old saying from a wise man (not me) that goes.... "Softlee, softlee, catcheee monkeee" .... Its great to see things being fixed and implement ..... its best it is done in manageable steps than something radical that destroys the entire game. Keep up the good work ... ooooh! - and which one of you stole my car?

After finally digging my ship out of the ground after its unusual over night flip and turn ...i sailed to a new place..and moored in a bay to examine a structure. I turned around to see my ship sailing backwards out to sea .. despite sails down and anchor deployed. I hurried back and after a short luckily shark free swim climbed aboard. I was wondering what to do a seagull flew by my ear. It Looks as though one had flown into the superstructure of my moored ship , and despite anchored and sails down was able to move the ship around. This is annoying as the seagull was not licensed to operate a sailing vessel! Now to a mystery... in the early stages of this game i managed to tame a horse, the mighty steed " Flumbuff" ( don't ask about the name ) I had it in an enclosed area near my base under construction...and it disappeared! maybe wolves got? or Ane rehearsing lady Godiva for the Xmas pantomime rode off on it That was before Christmas. Today i climbed onto the 2nd story of my base ...a there was Flumbuff waiting! Ummmm how? To get where he was he would have to negotiate 2 flights of stairs and pass through a wire gate and a steel door. Now i have the problem of getting him back down to ground level and a healthy grass pasture. I am now worried that my missing car might appear and fall on top of me while i am sleeping!

Exactly, 6cowa ... you see these silly titled threads created on most forums... and the tendency of 99% of the people is to ignore them ...as i will now, as i have said my 2 cents worth

Moving around on deck must be made safer
kimbuck replied to Soondead-27d3f9fbcbfb78c3's question in Suggestions & Feedback
I built walls around the stern area from glass panels ... ..and at the sides i put in an elevated railing lined with storage chests as a additional barrier. The same at the front around the anchor lever. I built steps at each side leading down from the deck towards a platform either side of the bow. This makes easy access to land when exploring... you ease the ship as close as you can to a shoal , then from that platform ( at sea level) make an dirt causeway to the shore. Ship looks ugly but its functional! -
At least it helps you to identify where the sharks are Maybe the ships anchor snagged the top of a plug in the ocean floor? When this happens to me a log out...cup of coffee and re log fixes it. ( no! I do NOT pour the coffee into the computer.....)

There's gold in them there hills! Using applied logic - that is "lets go this way for a change" ..i found a temperate island in my travels and secured a beach head. Immediately i discovered " there's a bear in there" ... and after a battle I dispatched it ... just ... and its mate....only to run into another 2 bears! Respawn time..and fortunately it occurred on the shore nearby same island and i could see the masts of my ship over the nearby ridge. 3 bears and 6 wolves later, and 3 more respawns., i managed to triumph - and found the grave of "John Doe" so i dug around it and found a gold coin and a lump of gold ore. Nearby was "something" ..of interest ..not going to be a spoiler, but it yielded another gold ore lump and a gold chalice... so i concluded there must be gold somewhere in the caves here, - however my miners helmet was broken in the previous conflicts, therefore dissuading any searching of the caves. Those bears were guarding something... so many of them ..but what? i then noticed a small triangular yellow spot on the ridge near where John Doe met his fate, and started to dig... Yeeeehaw! Gold Gold Gold! ... as you can see from the screenshot. I dug carefully and after extracting a heap of it .. i nearly broke through into a cave... whew.. It was deep and dark and i swear i saw eyes down there begging me to be greedy and keep digging... So after some careful digging i gathered up my spoils and returned to my ship to unload. A survey of the area in better light revealed i had broken through into the roof of a huge deep cave ..if i fell in it would be respawn No.4 minus my gold. As this gold was inthe roof, it would have been a huge effort to get at it from inside the cavern. I seem to have mined 90% of it ..so not going to be greedy and take the risk ...just yet

RESOLVED Bug: Protective Barrier does not protect from PvP while offline
kimbuck replied to Whane The Whip's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Spawn killing one of the lowest acts in MP games. It discourages others from playing. I No longer play PUBG because although in single player game, there seems to be "allied groups" where part of the group run around eliminating all the unarmed players as they land, while the rest of the group gather all the weapons around, then share them and move on to eliminate others...working in a pack. This form of cheating is not the intention of the game. I would like to join in a MP game, but if I am going to constantly run up against others whose sole purpose is to troll and ruin it for others to satisfy their own ego, then MP is not for me . .. and others will also avoid MP games. Of course them all the non pvp types will start games and lock out the trouble makers, who will then fill the forums with complaints that others are not being fair to them and not allowing them to "play" What the Devs could do with MP games is give at the start an option to spawn on different Ylands in the game, and also different points on each Ylands when respawning ( ie N s e w parts of the Yland). This could possibly give new players/re-spawners a chance to at least arm themselves or find a defensive position, thus spoiling it for the trolls as tyhey will not have an unfair advantage. I expect this post top get down voted by the trolls , but do i care? Nope! .. because i call a spade a spade ... and if you cheat, i will call you a cheat. There are people in this world who play Ylands as a game for enjoyment, ..and using the crafting etc as an expression of creativity ...just look at some of the ships and building being produced. Any Idiot can run around with a gun/weapon killing others and destroying things. You don't need a brain for that!- 8 replies

Best method for destroying stone after solidification?
kimbuck replied to TheClockArm's topic in General Discussion
Perhaps they should introduce a "Hardener tool" some sort of gun which you can use to "harden" objects after they are placed and you are satisfied with their placement. I agree, that its a survival game and there has to be some level of difficulty ..as a challenge. If there were no challenges, they why not go and play " my little pony's morning teatime" Some of the resources are unbalanced ..but that will improve with time... its amazing how a tiny sapling can produce a log! But its still early access... the wrinkles will get smoothed out eventually . -
Best method for destroying stone after solidification?
kimbuck replied to TheClockArm's topic in General Discussion
I destroyed half my stone building in on second ...was hammering at a stone wall near a powder keg ... kaboom! all 3 kegs must have exploded. Respawned and ran back in my whitey tights to find a massive crater where my base was...only the 4 side walls left, no roof floor and some items scattered around.. I think my forge and smelter were blown into the atmosphere! Not the recommended way of doing it, but only sensible method i find is using lots of hammers while holding a cup of coffee in one hand and the mouse button down with the other hand. Use 1st person so you don't smash the wrong area... -
The best gifts! ..and well said!

I found one tropical yland but it was heavily infested with leopards ...lots of them !...so i quickly chopped down 6 of the closest rubber trees and brought the seeds back to my temperate biome base...and started a plantation there.. I would harvest the rubber, then chop down one tree, replant it and 2 others... the plantation is quite extensive now.

Its relativity! the developers need to resurrect Einstein!
kimbuck posted a topic in General Discussion
E = m x c squared, c being the speed of light and is constant....ie cannot change, therefore according to Einstein, E and m will change proportionally.. Also. faster an object travels, its length shortens ... known as the Fitzgerald contraction. And as an object approaches the speed of light, its mass increases....... So ...we now know why those damned seagulls are so destructive to boats! They are actually Huge, immense, birds, and the Fitzgerald contraction makes them look like tiny seagulls as they are travelling at near speed of light, therefore have great mass to deflect a ship when they hit it! Unfortunately they don't fall into those black holes that swallow other objects ..such as cars ... The attached screenshots prove the point- 1 reply

Happened to me once when my ip connection dropped out... I swam like crazy after the ship and it did stop eventually and i made it back on board with half a health heart and 3 hungry sharks zeroing in... I always log out after i have anchored near a yland... if I do get caught in open sea, and have to log out lower sails, drop anchor then hold onto the helm like a madman .... and then log out Has not happened again after adopting that procedure
-
I can confirm this ..it happens at a doorway at the top of stairs ... you have to approach at an angle to get through.
-
Make sure you check all around each islands..... i had one that was roughly a figure 8 shape. with a central mountain at the join... one side was desert with copper etc and hyenas and the other side was tropical with rubber and iron etc...and pumas! I was not game to go into the only central cave as hell knows what mutants were in there!

Logged out of my explore game for lunch ... took ages to save... actually hang at saving screen. After waiting 35 minutes restarted computer., then after looking at emails etc resumed my game. Came back and did a little survey around base... met two wolves who were not friendly. Then i noticed my car was missing! Did a wolf take it for a joyride? Searched around my base... looked around where it was last seen ... nothing...not even a burnout mark from the tires... after climbing to a high point and surveying the whole area , concluded, someone or something with bad taste in fashion and style took my ugly car. I attach the files from that game in the hope that even if the car cannot be returned, at least i can find some parts to sell as scrap.. .output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt
