Hi there, fellow ylanders! Because larger customizable boats are shaping up nicely, let me give you heads up so that you know what to expect. Today I'll show you a comprehensive list of what needs to be done in order to build the next Black Pearl. Building a ship has never been an easy task (fun fact: building a large ship during the late medieval period could actually take up to several years) so please bear with me while we go through the whole demanding process: * create the hull via Crafting panel * build anything you want to on it (e.g. having some sails so that you can move is generally considered a good idea) and you are good to go. Well, looking back at the list - it doesn't sound that complicated, right? The hull even comes with a pre-positioned helm (steering wheel) but you are free to place it at any other spot you like. Once you take control of the helm you can control ship's direction and speed by raising and lowering of the available sails. Oh...and yes, as the image indicates, it's time I also told you something about some of the cool things you will be able to find underwater. From time to time you will come across debris floating in the sea. If you feel like exploring you may stop your ship and dive. The obvious thing to find down there is a shipwreck (possibly with some nice things around it) but there will be many other interesting objects for you to explore. Some of them, however, may be located in the regions where the sea is really deep and you will need some extra help to get all the way down there (and back!) without drowning. There are actually several objects that can help you with that but we will leave up to you to find what those are. And that's it for this week - looking forward to seeing you the next one and in the meantime, you stay classy, ylanders!

Hi acebelew, First let me thank you for this feedback. Some players have reported this issues but so far we haven't been able to reproduce it - but the part where you mention that you are able to open it when clicking the button at certain area while not when clicking elsewhere actually tells us a lot and it will make it easier for us to locate and fix that. In the meantime you can try accessing the crafting panel with the dedicated key we added in the last patch (default N). Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience!

RESOLVED Stuck on Trial after Purchase, Can't Play
Aleš Ulm replied to ExistentialEgg's question in Archived Bugs & Technical Issues
Hi KevsNoTrev, a player who buys a game and is unable to play it is something we consider one of the most critical issues and we try to fix those as soon as possible. We will look into it right away, however solving these issues over a weekend is a bit more problematic since we don't have direct access to all the tools needed. The worst case scenario is that we will get your game to work on early Monday morning. In the meantime, please accept my apology. Ales PS: with tools we have at our disposal at this moment we indeed see that you have purchased the game and you are on the list of full-version players so you don't have to worry about that part - the transaction was completed successfully. -
I'm pretty sure we will be able to show you something before the end of the next week. As for the water - we're definitely not done with it but since there's probably not a single feature in the game that we wouldn't have some cool plans for so it will have to wait a bit. I think you should be able to see some additional water improvements sometime in the early 2017.

You are more than welcome!

Hi, I think the root of this all is actually one bug that we are already aware of. If you pick a building block, the game should switch automatically to grid building mode - but because of the bug, it doesn't. The workaround is, if you pick a building block, to switch to another item in the hotbar and back - this way you should be able to place the item. What you probably did while you experienced this bug is that you pressed V and entered free placing mode - this way you can place even building blocks outside the grid but it is important to note that block placed in this mode never "harden" and can be picked up any time later. If this isn't your issue, feel free to elaborate a bit more on what you are doing, thanks! :).

Yes, I second that - your video is really nice Thanks!

We will be posting a document about our plans for modding and sharing of player-made content in couple of weeks. Hopefuly that will answer at least some of your questions

Hi FireFrost, it has been only a couple of days since a larger number of players have started playing the game and therefore a lot of new bugs have appeared/ appear often enough so that we are able to reproduce them. Fixing those is of the utmost priority to us and we expect to get rid of the most annoying ones very soon. 1) players having problems connecting to each other is something we get a lot. We will post some more info about this issue sometime during the upcoming week on these forums. 2) several players have reported this issue and we are already looking into it. We hope to localize the issue soon. 3) again something others have noticed and so it is also being looked into already 4) / 5) after something like that happens (game freezes on you) could you please locate game output_log file and send it to us / post it here? You should be able to find it here: \Program Files\Ylands\Game\Ylands_Data Thanks a lot for your feedback, we appreciate it a lot! If you have any more issues to report or comments, we'd love to hear them

Hi, this looks definitely like a bug. Could you please send us your save game so that we can take a look at it? You should be able to find it under Documents/Ylands/SavedGames Thanks!

Hi Gracekain! Let me help you explore the world of Ylands I know we can dig, but how can we terraform and flatten the land? Different tools perform different operations with terrain - try using pickaxe, shovel or spade and see which one suits your needs. Terrain can be also be easily adjusted (added, removed, painter over etc.) by item called Terraformer - if you don't mind "cheating" a bit in your survival game you can add it by "/additem terraformer" in game console (opened by ~ key) or by opening your scene in the Editor (Main menu/Edit/Open file). What is the best home building method? I am currently making a log house, and it is taking forever. Building in survival mode is indeed more challenging than in the Editor. If you want build something fast, you may want to give the Editor a try (it can, as posted above, open and save your existing game). Or, if you find some aspect of the base building too difficult, let us know about what seems to be the biggest issue and we'll take a look at that! How do I make a chest? I do not have anywhere to store my items; they are just laying all over the ground. Most of the chest require wooden planks, hammer and nails (made from iron ingots which require smelting furnace). I have died 2x while chopping down trees. It seems if you jump on the tree as it is falling the game kills you saying that you fell to your death. It is an annoying way to die. Is this a known issue? This sounds like a bug - we will check it out. Thanks! Why can I not recover my items from my corps after I respawn? Respawning (and possible consequences) is still something we are working on and will probably change at some point. You can take a lit torch walk up to a stick on the ground and light the stick with the torch to make a campfire. Is this intentional? Yes, it is a quick way of creating a simple campfire. I have made a few standing torches, the ones on my foundation "vanished" and the one on the ground did not. That sounds like a bug. We'll discuss this and get back to you. Is there any way I can drop a whole stack of items instead of dropping them individually? Yes, whenever you are performing an operation with a stack of items (dragging and dropping them over to the scene to remove them etc.) hold Left Ctrl (by default) while clicking. Before the operation takes place you will be asked about the number of items affected. If we cannot have chests, bags, boxes, etc. for storage, PLEASE increase the stack count of items. My camp is starting to look like a hoarder lives there lol! You should be able to create your own chest (see answer above) - but it is true we should add some that are really easy to create - thanks for the feedback, we'll definitely do something about this real soon! If you encounter any additional issues or have more questions or comments just let us know!

Yes, we are already working on some solutions to address those issues (using dedicated servers will definitely help a lot). We should be able to give more details in the upcoming weeks.

DEV ANSWER Temporary PvE/PvP server
Aleš Ulm replied to starwarss's question in Suggestions & Feedback
Hi, let me tell you little bit about our plans when it comes to multiplayer. We expect that larger number of players will start coming to the game once it is "officially" announced through the usual channels (this hasn't happened yet but will very soon) and especially later, when the game eventually becomes available on Steam. Many of those players will be interested primarily in MP so it is really high on our priority list. Within the next 4 - 6 weeks we will make sure that most of the MP critical or annoying issues are fixed. Very soon we will start working on dedicated servers support which shouldn't take very long and once this is done we will make sure there are some persistent servers you can play on - and from that moment also you, players, will be able to host persistent servers yourself. We will keep you posted about the current progress in our weekly Sneak peaks and Developer diaries. -
I guess I have to start a new survival world

I guess I have to start a new survival world
Aleš Ulm replied to Miguel Preguisa's topic in General Discussion
Hi Michal, I'm really sorry to see this happen Finding out why has this happened and fixing it is now our highest priority. Could you please do the following? 1. send us this "corrupted" game file Whenever a new update is installed, we make copies of all existing saved games and store them in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Ylands 2. can you please locate the "not-corrupted" version of this game file there and send it to us as well? Please be careful when handling these files so that you don't accidentally delete them ( or don't open them in the game so they would get corrupted as well) - if your current files will show to be beyond repair, after we find and fix the issues in the game you will be able continue with these. Thank you very much! Ales -
Hi, thanks for reporting that! We will look into it - there are, indeed, some items, that have LOD problems.

RESOLVED Unable to Create or find multiplayer
Aleš Ulm replied to Jesse Helmrich's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Hi Jesse, thanks for reporting this issue! We are sorry that the game doesn't work for you and will do our best to help you. In order to find what is wrong, could you please do the following? 1) run the game and try to enter the survival mode. After you get stuck on 0% exit the game and head to your Program FIles\Ylands\Game\Ylands_Data folder where you should be able file called output_log.txt - we would love to see what's inside of it so you can either send it to support@bistudio.com or send it to me attached via this forum's private message (that might be faster). Make sure you copy it aside as it gets overwritten when the game is restarted. 2) about your connection problem: first please check that your friend (or the one who is hosting the game) has set the game to be multiplayer. If they put in some password you need to put it on your side as well so that you can even see the game in the list. If all these conditions are met, the one who hosts the game could try disabling the firewall for a short time and try again so that we can tell if the connection isn't blocked by it. If none of this works it would help us tremendously if you could again send us the log file (one created when you were unable to connect) - ideally even the one from your friend's computer when they were hosting the game. Again we are sorry to hear about your troubles - someone will contact you via PM and make sure you are given extra trial time. Thank you. Ales EDIT: please let me know if you're be unable to find the log file / if it doesn't seem to be present in your game folders.Thanks. -
Hey starwarss! Thanks for the nice words. Modding is indeed planned (and it is actually very, very high on our list of priorities) but truth is that the detailed plans about what will the modding support look like are yet to be finalized so we can't tell you much right now - I'm sorry about that. We plan, however, to share the information about modding possibilities (and also about exchange of user-create content) before the end of this year.

Hi there, fellow ylanders! What’s new with Ylands, you might ask? I’m not sure how you do it, but once again you’re asking exactly at the perfect moment since something very cool has just happened. Our programmer Petr, who has been continuously performing his magic deep within our game's dark places, has finally emerged... victorious. Not that there wouldn’t be a lot of things still waiting to be improved, but in the last build we’ve gained at over 20 additional frames per second (actually sometimes way more than that) at some locations / situations where the game ran very poorly before. I think that especially those with slower PCs will welcome this along with the fact that the GFX settings panel now works better than before. Also, a lot features are getting improved based on your feedback (the built-in feedback tool is proving to be very handy) - from major stuff like improving/finalising gamepad controls to rather small, but very important changes like adjusting (enlarging) the containers contents. The next update, Enjoyable Editor is close to be released and although it will be definitely nice addition to those existing, we’re already looking forward to one coming after that which, we have reasons to believe, change the way you play Ylands and will make it (especially the survival game) a lot more fun. And that's it for this week - looking forward to seeing you the next one and in the meantime, you stay classy, ylanders!

Hi there, fellow ylanders! This week I’m going to tell you something about what we have in store for the 0.17 update, called Enjoyable Editor. Since we released the first version (and the following update that added new features) we’ve been using it to create scenarios that you can now play, as well as listening to others who have been working with it. Based on that feedback we are going to release the third update centered around the Editor. Things that annoyed users will be changed and some of the requested features will be added - all this should result in the Editor being more polished and more enjoyable to work with. Also another interesting thing has happened - for some time now we have been working on the new tutorial yland. We used the new scenario to test some of the cool Editor features and put in a lot of things that players can discover and interact with. However, to be honest, we got so excited with all the possibilities and with what had been growing under our hands that we got carried away and our yland grew beyond the size and complexity usable for a rather simple tutorial. We created the most complex scenario by far, which actually became more of an adventure game (which is cool, though, because it shows what players can create in Ylands even at this still rather early moment). We decided to turn this yland into a new non-tutorial scenario called Yland 17. We will polish it some more and also add some features that will become available to you, the players, in 0.17, with which we will release it. Not only you will get to play a new “game” that will let you discover the dark secrets of the Evil Genius - but you will be able to open this in the Editor and see how exactly that scenario works, so that you can do something similar ( or better! ). There will definitely be a brand new tutorial yland at some point - in the meantime we decided to go over the existing one and improve it. Looking forward to talking to you in the next Sneak Peek. You stay classy, ylanders!

Good to hear you managed to save your important data We are glad you like the game - hopefully the upcoming months (which will bring some really awesome stuff in the game) will make you like it even more!
-
Hi there, fellow ylanders! So what has been going on with Ylands lately? Well, we thought that the upcoming update could use a couple more nice features, so instead of this week, when we originally planned on releasing it, you will get it during the following one. What are those cool things that you may look forward to? One of our great programmers, Lukas, has created a cool new “free camera” that you can use to capture screenshots (or, with the help of an external tool, capture some cool video). Not only you can move it manually anywhere you want to at the speed you set, but you can script it so that it interpolates between two (or more) saved positions or speeds up or slows down during the movement - so now those Machinima 101 classes you’ve been taking finally will come in handy! Also, we weren’t happy enough with the visualization of the items focused in the world and their interactions, so you can expect something new and more slick! And that's it for this week - looking forward to seeing you the next one and in the meantime, you stay classy, ylanders!

Hi guys, once again - sorry for the inconvenience! We are doing everything in our powers to get this resolved as fast as possible. Fortunately today we were able to simulate this issue on one of our computers which will make resolving this way easier for us. We also have some solid leads - I would like to thank you for your logs and feedback, we are super grateful for that! We hope we will be able to find the solution soon - in the meantime we will continue to inform you about our progress. Thanks again! @siSINka: If you want to provide some feedback in Czech, it's surely possible - please PM our programmer @Berzeger, in forums we try to stick to English only
