This ladder behaviour seems to happen with other objects as well like chests. Maybe other free place items as well. It's easiest to just check if you're missing some items aboard.

Thanks for the responses guys Besides the occasional accidental annihilation of the entire shiphulls (I now make backups every 5 minutes) it wasn't that much work. Especially the first ship has been designed so that it's really easy and quick to build more of them, also material wise

I'd also like to see some regional PVP settings where PVP would be allowed, whereas in other locations PVE would be disabled

[OBSOLETE] How to: the dedicated servers
WijkagentAdrie replied to Ane's topic in General Discussion
I've hosted a dedicated server on a VPS. When connecting to it (from the same account) It keeps hanging on Recalling buildings 100%, both when I use a new map or a map I already played on singleplayer. The map type is "Explore", if I use any of the premade other maps the server won't even show up in the serverlist somehow. I'm running Windows Server 2012 R2. Attached are both output logs from the server and client side EDIT: Tried the "Create" map, it did show in the list like the explore maps do but it didn't get anywhere past "Recalling buildings" either. I've tried to test the dedicated server from my own machine as well, but when I launch the game it will stay black but the sound will play. Hello, I'm not really happy with the way looking around with ALT works at the moment. As soon as you release the button you suddenly point in the direction where you were looking instead of the direction you are walking, as in most games. This is most annoying when you are being chased by bears/wolves, look over your shoulder and then suddenly run towards them Needless to say this has caused some trouble Adrie

RESOLVED Moving water problems
WijkagentAdrie replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
I've confirmed my findings that boats seem to float at a certain height/altitude instead of on water. I went to the funfair and place multiple boats and rafts in the lake next to the dam and all boats immediately sank to the bottom as if there was no water there. Also in the edit I've added another example. Before I made the hole in the background the part in the foreground was all covered by water. Now it's not and the edges of the ocean are weird. Adrie -
RESOLVED Moving water problems
WijkagentAdrie replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
I've been thinking about this, and 50% of the problem is the actual water physics which needs tweeking, the other 50% is the way boats "float", as can be seen in this bug: https://ylands.com/community/topic/854-ships-floating-in-mid-air/ It seems that ships simply float at a certain level/height, instead of reacting to water. I'm gonna do some more tests to see how this works Adrie -
RESOLVED Boats (Stuck)
WijkagentAdrie replied to White Skull Mr.Friendly's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
I think beaching could be a risk/danger which is normal to sailing a boat. Maybe the map could show water depths or something similar so we can navigate through shallow water? Also, have you tried simply digging the sand away below the boat? -
RESOLVED Ship Helm model
WijkagentAdrie replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
For some reason it seemed to have fixed itself on this boat. I've placed some items on the place where my character would stand and now he stands right at the helm again -
Are all raw materials guaranteed in each Explore map?
WijkagentAdrie replied to Mesh333's topic in General Discussion
I've found salt peter quite a bit on many of my islands Also qutie a few caves seem to be hidden underground, the same goes for veins. Guess you just gotta go minecraft style and make some mineshafts.- 9 replies

I have no idea how the growing currently works, maybe it works like on minecraft where growth etc. only happens if the region is actually loaded in by a player? You being away ofcourse prevented from anything from happening in that region and therefor stopping the growing? Maybe one of the devs can clarify

RESOLVED Ship Helm model
WijkagentAdrie replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Nope, I haven't sailed much ships at all. This is the first one with a roof over it's helm though. -
RESOLVED Ship Helm model
WijkagentAdrie replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Another issue is the steering position: it moves me all the way back into my boat for some reason. -
RESOLVED Ship Helm model
WijkagentAdrie replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Exactly! This wouldn't be bad per se but it's not centred on the grid either, it's only on the left side where it sticks out. EDIT: It's also bigger on the backside (only the hitbox, not the model), since I am unable to place the helm against a wall. I can however place the helm first and then build the wall. -
Very nice update, good fixes especially the LOD improvements are great on any fixed objects, however they don't work on ships yet for the equal blocks. I guess calculating for ships works different and is still WIP? Thanks again for the nice work! Adrie

Anybody here tried to make a bridge?
WijkagentAdrie replied to Miguel Preguisa's topic in Community News
Looking good over there! I've been thinking of making one since I made a canal right through my yland using a lot of TNT Can you fit a tiny boat or raft under there? -
RESOLVED Writing on blank signs on ships
WijkagentAdrie posted a question in Bugs & Technical Issues
If you try to write on a blank sign that's placed on a ship, whether it be against the hull or any block on the ship, the sign disappears as soon as you confirm the text. Steps to reproduce: 1. Build a ship. 2. Place a blank sign anywhere on the ship. 3. Try to write something using a knife. 4. Confirm your text. Severity: Minor Repeatable: Always -
I've found a similar thing a few hundred meters away, looked like the roman letter I?

RESOLVED Writing on blank signs on ships
WijkagentAdrie replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Since this or the last update I can't place any door's (both normal or energy doors) on the ship hulls anymore either. I'm 100% sure I used to be able to do this before. -
I used a cannon to shoot them off I haven't figured a way to open locked chests yet, which is the next step.

Nice update we've got here, the way boat hulls work is really an improvement! I've got a lot of feedback, questions and suggestions as well: Overall feedback: I'm really happy with the priorities of the development. I've played a lot of early access games, a lot sandbox survival but also DayZ standalone and I can't stress enough that prioritizing is key. It's nice to see that dedicated servers and the way boats behave got some love. After testing the game I've found that a lot of mechanics are working which I thought weren't. Questions: In the funfair I couldn't find the pharaoh's name, can you give me a hint as to where to find it? Is there a way to transport water? I've seen the lake/dam which you had to blow up, can I for example fill a bucket and empty it somewhere to create a lake? Do boat hulls displace water? Is there a way to repair ship hulls? And can you lift ships after they have sunk? Is center of gravity accounted for in ships? Suggestions: More people per server, so we can start having some communities! "Infdev", infinite growing maps based on mapseeds. "Lego" boat hulls! I already said it last time I think but at the moment there's so much space/volume wasted in the boat hulls. This could be either just a "bath tub" or a full modular design with different bows/sterns and middle parts so you can choose the length/width and modern/old styling. In case hulls actually displace water this could be below the waterline, if not it could stay above. Also, the modular hull has the advantage of having low sides so you can have windows low in the hull: Simply more blocks to work with! Inverted triangles, a lot more smaller blocks, more color variations etcetera. Also some flatter/longer slopes to make more detailed hulls. Thanks for the nice work again! Adrie

RESOLVED Writing on blank signs on ships

To add to this: The same applies when you connect a heater to a power grid, the heater will disappear and will put the node into a bugged state. -
RESOLVED Extreme: Annihilator vs. Boat hull
WijkagentAdrie replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
To prevent this happening from me again I've searched for a workaround: Every 30 mins I simply copy/paste the savegame from Documents>Ylands>SaveGames to my personal backup folder. Hope this saves you guys from losing your lovely boats! Adrie
