This is actually not a bad idea now that we can make it unpickable.

RESOLVED [YLD-29956] Ship blocks dissapear
bojo2736 replied to NICO14973's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Sometimes a reboot helps. Disappearing ships and ship pieces has been a thing in this game forever. -
Sorry for the spam, I just thought of something else. In some games I play, you can pull from nearby storage when you are crafting, you don't have to have it actively in your inventory to use it. Or there is inventory space inside the workstation to put the crafting items. On the subject of storage, some way to identify from the outside what is in it. Some way to color code it without needing paint? Some kind of symbol?

Reading @Deadeye_Rob comment, it reminds me. The crafting menu. OMG. It used to be, way back in the dark ages, that when you were crafting - let's say logs. You picked the piece you wanted. Then you need another size, you open the menu, and the logs are still where you left them when you sorted for them. Now? You have to sort again for every single piece change. It's super annoying. Going back to the old sort system would be one way, another would be to allow us to make folders to put our favorites in. The way I build in editor, is I put out all the pieces I want on the ground. I use it as a swatch, and just pick the item as I need it. A folder for favorites would be useful in the same way. Or have it put the last 5 items you picked at the top. And while I am thinking about it. Please bring back the four wide wooden steps. Using the one block or the two block together just looks awful. I'm sure I will think of more.

Clear ice blocks. More and better lighting options. The ability to dim and brighten. Switches that can be attached to lighting / fires in game. Since we cant script in game, we need to have a few things available to put in on the in game side. Thinner blocks. I currently use the pier blocks because they are pretty much the only smaller ones available. We need more, and in every material. See attached picture. Windows need some love. We need more sizes, and angle pieces. And maybe round pieces. If you could remove the lines in the windows, that would be awesome as well. And larger scale. Add the alpha option to the paint gun. You could require crystal powder to craft the paint. More decor items.

But will sharks be back?

Agreed. It was a game that had promise as a builder.

We started a new Valheim map last weekend. DM me if you want the info.

If animals could be summoned like ships it would solve the problem I have with having animals.

New to the game, dont understand anything about exploration.

I also remembered that your death spot is marked on the map. -

I prefer to put my bed/spawn on the ship I am using. If you die whilst exploring you dont go far. Pro tip, keep basic weapons and clothing on your ship, so you arent freezing and defenseless when you spawn back in. Also, if you can carry a lantern or crystal on you at all times. If you die it makes it easier to find your stuff. -
Honestly, i dont remember. Maybe ir was a food item? It may just have been a weird glitch. After I posted that I couldnt reproduce it either.

If it's a blueprint just build it onsite? No need for the extra step.

Ylands, this just feels too much...

Oooo the dirty delete. ? -
The thing is, it used to be possible. They added it in one of the updates, then took it away. It's almost as if they forgot that it was something we were supposed to have.

As much as I'd like to share in spilling the tea, this is really off topic. I do think the game is improving, it has strayed from what I originally bought. Fighting bosses and leveling up is the furthest thing from what I found charming about this game. That kind of game is ubiquitous, and done better by other franchises. If we can find a middle ground, it will be worth staying for.

I have a bunch of old maps that I am sorting. Back in the P1 days, I generated a lot of maps, and I kept a few. Be aware that these maps sometimes behave weirdly. The new map rules effect them, meaning that even if there ARE 12 islands, you will only see a few of those. The ones you don't see are still viewable in editor, but I haven't found a way to access them in play. Also, there are some rendering issues. These are playable more or less but you may find issues. 3HT.Legacy2018.zip

I'm not sure what point you think I made, I have posted a lot on these forums.

I never know where the idea comes from. I wanted to use bricks and the large windows. Still a work in progress.

Hi Nikki! Welcome I might be one of the oldest people here (57) and I came to pc gaming fairly late. My gateway game was The Sims 4. I started watching The Sim Supply on youtube and got hooked on watching builds. So I bought the game, and several hundred dollars later (thanks EA!) I have almost all of the DLC. Watching youtube builds led me to Keralis. He was playing this cool little game called Ylands. And oh my. It was love. I love the art style, I love low poly. It was just a chill, cool little game. I bought it the day it was available on Steam. I played it for about 1000 hrs solo, before I ever hit the public servers. I currently have a little over 3500 hours in the game. Most of my time was spent just exploring. I love me some open world. And learning to build. Ylands still is the best building game I have found. Being a new gamer, the public servers where kind of scary, and I ran into more trolls than anything else. So I found the forum, and asked about dedicated servers. I found @Baz Foobar and had a home on his servers for a while, until he gave up running them. When he shut down his server, @RedEagle_P1. invited me to P1. He gave me a home to play safely. He needed someone to run his exploration servers. I didn't know anything about running a server, but I stepped up and did my best. I learned a lot from Red, how to run a server, and how to use the editor. I built a strong community there. About two years ago, it was time for me to move on. I have my own Discord community called 3HT. (Three hour tour, a reference to Gilligan's Island.) I have hosted Ylands on and off since then. Since the new play style, it seems like a dedicated server really isn't needed, so I haven't had one since that update. I dabble in the exploration game, but it really holds no interest for me at this time. I won't go into that here, but it really is just a builder game for me at this point. As someone said upthread, what I love most about Ylands is the community. I have made some really good friends, from all over the world. It's what keeps me connected to Ylands. These days I am running two dedicated servers with Valheim and Ark SE on them. My current games are: Valheim, Ark, Ylands and GTA V. And sometimes RDR2 online. If Red Dead had building, it would be my perfect game, beautiful and horses!

I just wish you couldnt see them all from spawn. I miss the adventure of finding them. Ships were required if you wanted to get off the starter island. Now, a raft (or horse) are really all you need. Heck, with no sharks, I have even swam.

Please, please, bring back the more jagged islands, with the high spot in the middle, and the old style death caves. Also, looking at that picture it reminds me of something I meant to write about. The lighting situation. Is it possible to not have the light "stack" one work station is fine. Try to use two or more and it's the brightness of the sun. Same with lanterns and really any light source. We used to have some subtle options (glowing mushrooms and clear ice blocks to diffuse the light) but those got nerfed along the way. I often design builds with light and shadow in mind. It's impossible in the game as it is.

POSSIBLY Soo....lets talk about resources

Rude. lol But yes, having creative control has ruined me. I need it in almost every game I play now.
