Items disappearing from inventory after a skirmish
handofthesly replied to kimbuck's topic in General Discussion
I’ve always assumed it was due to the items being damaged just the same as your tools when you use them they wear until they break. -
CANT REPRODUCE [YLD-7822] CRASH - Crafting Beams
handofthesly replied to handofthesly's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Just had another crash after restarting and playing for a while although this time I wasn't crafting or anything. I had just picked up a whole heap of dirt off of the ground which were going straight into my soil container and then it crashed. output_log.txt -
RESOLVED [YLD-7618] Falling through earth again
handofthesly replied to kimbuck's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
It was the latest Steam version when I posted but I see the new Steam Release Candidate has just been released so hopefully this fixes it. It was either die of starvation or use the /killme command as /unstuck wasn’t working. Either way I think I would have lost my gear as I wasn’t “falling” anymore. -
RESOLVED [YLD-7618] Falling through earth again
handofthesly replied to kimbuck's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
It was strange because eventually we stopped falling and were just standing there, the horse was even going through idle grazing animations. In all honesty it happened so quick that I couldn't tell if it was because I hit an object or a particular part of the terrain. Unfortunately there is no gravestone marker to show me where I died. I managed to use the /killme command to respawn but lost all of my gear. My other horse isn't reacting to my summons anymore either -
RESOLVED [YLD-7618] Falling through earth again
handofthesly replied to kimbuck's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Had this happen to me just now while riding my horse, it was galloping. We are now stuck in darkness, I can't move or dismount my horse. Re-logging doesn't help, unstuck commands don't help. I'm stuck! output_log.txt DxDiag.txt -
RESOLVED [YLD-7094] Rain inside cave
handofthesly replied to A3_Melle's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
I too can confirm this happening, including the lightning! Very spooky -
I can't seem to get the Material Container to work. No item wants to go into the container and I've tried so many items that should be classified as materials! I've tried it while it is in my Inventory as well as when it's placed on the ground. EDIT: Thanks to BigBoss87 I have learnt that only Dirt, Sand, and Gravel can be used with the Material Container.

Ahh! Many thanks, yes I have now tried Dirt, Sand and Gravel. Only these 3 work with the Material Container that I have found now. Many thanks!

On the subject of Padlocks again ... I can't seem to lock any doors or containers/chests. It works on ship helms, engines, car driver seats, cannons, levers and workstations but not chests, doors or energy switches. Is it meant to be this way? Also, is it possible to rename the padlocks? Say I've created one for my ship and called the padlock after the ships name - The Jolly Roger for example. But then I want to take the padlock off and use it on a different ship - The Black Pearl - but the padlock is still called The Jolly Roger. Anyway of changing the name? Many thanks!

^^ THIS was driving me mad! I thought I must be missing some crucial ingredient or material The recipes show after the patch, thanks, now I can update the Wiki

I'm having a lot of fun messing with the new cars in Ylands but there is one feature that I think would work great - Four-Wheel Drive! The existing cars work fine on level surfaces such as the race track, however, they struggle on uneven, steep terrain both up and down. I would LOVE to have the option to build a 4WD short wheel base chassis with higher ground clearance, big mud tread tyres and a 4 wheel drive Low gear that you could change down into with the press of a button. The low gear would mean you could crawl at a slower pace and maneuver over obstacles safely and the shorter wheel base, higher ground clearance and bigger, grippier tyres would help to get over rocks, stumps, fallen logs and steeper terrain! Basically a shortened version of the Large Chassis or a lifted version of the Small Chassis. This would make the car more practical in Exploration mode so we can explore the Yland and have a blast off-roading and rock crawling! I think a tow bar and a winch would be great to help get you out of tricky situations too, and a snorkel so the engine can breath in deeper water and ponds without cutting out. I'm thinking something along the lines of this:

RESOLVED [YLD-6737] Mining underwater
handofthesly replied to WijkagentAdrie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
I've been having the same issue, it scared the living heck out of me when it first happened! Definitely something that needs looking at in future updates. -
Not a problem Ane! I haven't figured out an easy way to obtain information like the Item IDs so if you guys can help out in any way would be awesome!

Hi JaneDoe, I've just updated the Ylands Wiki here. This page has all of the links you need to check out the different engines, chassis and seats required to create a functional vehicle.

RESOLVED This bug is helpfull ><
handofthesly replied to OHNNI's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Just encountered something very similar. After visiting a string of 3 Ylands I stop at the last one, gather resources and head back to my ship. As I click on the ladder I get instantly teleported back to the 2nd Yland that I had just been to and end up in the water where my ship was docked while at that Yland. Very bizarre situation now -
DEV ANSWER Active Controller Auto Detect Bug
handofthesly posted a question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Hiya, Just encountered this bug/glitch where the auto detect for the controller/keyboard is freaking out. As soon as I stop moving the mouse or pressing keys on the keyboard it jumps back to gamepad and the camera flips up and spins straight away making it very hard to play. The only way around it has been to change the Active Controller setting to just Keyboard & Mouse rather than auto detect. I have no gamepad/controller plugged in or active and the mouse and keyboard are generally working fine on the desktop and on other games like Minecraft as well. I've got a video recording but I can't upload .mp4 files here unfortunately. **EDIT** I did have a PS4 controller plugged in via USB and didn't realise at the time and this seems to be what caused the issue. -
DEV ANSWER Active Controller Auto Detect Bug
handofthesly replied to handofthesly's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
Sorry for the late response. I didn't originally realise at the time but I DID have a PS4 controller plugged in via USB and that's what was setting it off, even though the controller was just sitting there and nothing was pushing on the buttons or thumb sticks. Once I removed the controller everything returned to normal on the Auto-Detect setting. Strangely enough, the XBOX One controller doesn't affect the game in the same way, the Auto-Detect works fine. I will need to test another PS4 controller and see if it happens again, it might be that the PS4 controller is faulty somehow? -
I think Wooden Pieces are the main source of "Firewood" in the game although I'm pretty sure that most wooden items can be used as firewood too.

RESOLVED Outside torches?
handofthesly replied to ThereGoesLucie's question in Bugs & Technical Issues
~I also have had an issue with not being able to light some wall torches. I always attributed it to them clipping into the wall too far even though ~95% of it is visible. -
You might need to craft the Woodworking Bench and have a Saw?
-
You need to find Saltpeter and Suphur Ore in the ground as well as Charcoal and then a Stone Mortar to grind it all up. I've been adding recipes for a lot of the items in the game onto the wiki page, here's the page for Gunpowder. .

Yes, I've made an attempt at starting the Item ID page on the wiki but it's a very time consuming job! If anyone else wants to help out and PM me the ID numbers they know then I can add them to the list!

Decent suggestions? Find out
handofthesly replied to Gaidge Hill's question in Suggestions & Feedback
The stacking of items into containers not working correctly is annoying. i would definitely love to see a copper or iron spyglass added to the game, I'd feel like a real pirate then! -
Neat ideas! A harpoon would definitely be useful against sharks. Imagine an ocean update and they add more sea life and sunken ships and treasures to explore with a craftable deep diving suit, the diving bell helmet type. You'd need Copper Ingots and Glass for the helmet and water proof cloth made by combining Cloth with Resin and add stone or iron ingots for the diving weights for the suit and the boots would have weights too. Oo and a single giant whale that cruises around the world that you can encounter and possibly tame and catch a ride on it's back if you get lost at sea by calling it with a special whale whistle!
