    Ship Questions and Help Request

    Try to find blueprints for this or a similar ship. They usually come with cut through views. If you make those "cuts", much like a skeleton, you can then connect them and make your hull Here's an example of a blueprint with the lines/cuts on there! If you need any help please feel free to ask!
  2. I was playing my truck trial map today, hosted on my dedicated server. I have no idea if that's related to the problem or that it would happen when someone else hosts it. Anyway, I drove my car all the way to the end of the map and back, only to discover that all other cars were gone. Nobody else had joined me in the mean time. I did use the /unstuck a command on my way, so I tested this when next to the other cars but they wouldn't disappear. I verified it by reloading the map and trying it with both the small and the large cars, but with the same results. It only happens to cars apparently as the rafts I use as a bridge were still there.     The other way around is worse to be honest: when you make a lake on top of a mountain every ship will sink straight to the bottom One tip I can recommend: place some beams with v(free place) or place them within the barrier. This way you can place the ship on them and when done building you can pick them up Adrie

    If (or when) I place for example a beam or log, partially inside the 30x30x30 area, will it then be completely protected, not protected at all or only the bit inside protected?

    RESOLVED Character hitbox

    Hello, I already reported a bit on this in another thread: I've been finding issues with this when working with the teepee tents. First of all, the smallest teepee tent is no longer accessible whatsoever. Even though the character should perfectly fit, you can't get into it. Next, I've tried to make a door for another teepee. I tried them seperate: I can get through the door alone, I can get into the teepee alone, but when I combine them I can't get in again. Edit: When I jump I can actually enter both of these tents, which is rather weird. Walking out is just fine. Adrie

    Red & White Bricks?

    You're quite right there, that not having the paint gun yet is very limiting. I feel that there should be a low tier painting option like a paint brush which should be much less useful, maybe use much more paint as well. For example, there used to be 4 different color armchairs, blue, red, green and purple, and they all had a ottoman in the same color. Now all there is is a blue ottoman and a purple armchair. The combination of those looks absolutely horrible:

    It doesn't make much sense to me to have 16 precolored sails, while we could make 100000+ color combinations on our own with the paint tool It just clutters the crafting menu as well, end-game the list of recipes is huge already! Adrie

    Currently you always spawn back on the island where you died, unless that island is an arctic/polar island. In that case you spawn on the very first island. Setting spawn points is not possible right now.

    How sure are you they didnt use explosives? Destroying a stone base manually is quite a lot of work. I think that as soon as there will be player/community hosted dedicated servers with whitelisting, the MP experience will be loads better. Alternatively you can play with a few people on your own game now.

    They removed a lot of colored items (they should remove the colored sails and car parts as well IMO). Other examples are the awnings and oriental wood types for example. You now indeed make those blocks by coloring them Adrie

    New ship equipment?

    My idea's so far: "Lego hulls", which are modular so you can choose the length of your ship, with different style bow and stern blocks so we can create different style ships, Have those hulls hollow, This is how lego does it. Please note that these are 2 stern pieces, there is a different bow piece. Next up, lifeboat davits: So we can have our small boats (maybe introduce a row boat, similar to the current boat but then with paddles, which is the only boat liftable by the davits. As a trade off for this feature it could be slower, think raft speed.) More different mast types, with different speeds which depend on the wind direction. Certain types of sail plans work better with the wind from the back, others are better at sailing against the wind etc. Change the sailing mechanics. I would like to see more realism in sailing, making tacking/jibing be beneficial in overall speed from A to B. Another mechanic that needs change is the wind. At the moment the whole wind mechanic is completely pointless: if the wind changes every 5 seconds there's no way you can plan for it, all it does is randomly change the speed at which you sail from A to B. Also make turning lose less speed. Stability should be an issue as well. At the moment having more sails gives no penalty. I feel that if you sail full speed in a storm and make dodgy maneuvers there should be a risk of capsizing your ship. Some minor things: Currently there is a bow wave visible. I think making this bigger would look a lot better. The mechanics are there, but they are barely visible while they add a lot to realism and immersion! If the hull's wont be improved soon, can they be put lower in the water? 1 block deeper would already make a great visual difference. Adrie

    Yes please, would be great if you can give us some numbers! Maybe also discuss the cost of the individual weapons to find out which ones are better or more economical Maybe you could do it in a youtube video format?

  16. If the devs were to add it as an option I believe that that raises the age category as well unfortunately. I hope that with the modding people can bring it back
  17. I've actually made a quick, plain test map that shows the problem rather well! I've made 3 gates: Gate 1, you can not go through. There is still roughly half a block space, but the game won't let you walk under it. Next to it is the exact same gate, but this time with slopes in front of it. For some reason, even though the height is 100% similar and you still walk under the exact same stone cubes, you can walk under this. But because the slopes are only in 1 direction you can only get through it in this one direction. Next to it is a 6 high gate which you can pass through normally. On my ships I have been able to get through the left most gate. The reason I can get through is because due to the waves, the ship rocks from left to right. The character stays upright, so relative to the gate is in a diagonal position. This gives (when you're lucky) enough space to pass through, but it can be quite tricky. Also this triggers the other bug that when you push into your ship in first person the ship goes crazy.   18. The game already logs what blocks are placed by who I believe. I think that every player should have the ability to pick up/destroy the blocks they placed themselves, all over the world. All blocks not being placed on a ship or car, or within a shield generator should be destroyable. The only thing that I'm still doubting is what happens if people place blocks around your shield generator, or make ugly crappy things all over the island in general, and then leave the server. Should all blocks placed outside generators, cars and ships be able for pick up by anyone? I think this is a discussion that's ongoing with the developers as well as it's hard to work out. What if players/griefers harden a massive stone wall right in front of your door? Or just ugly stone piles all over the island?
  19. Heya! To get hay you should pick up dried/withered plants. Bird nests also give hay but since they constantly respawn eggs and feathers I wouldn't pick those up! You could always load your game up in the editor, double click your boat, and set the rotation values to 0 And then go back to your games and continue your game with your boat now being upright again. @Aleš Ulm Has the walking height recently changed? I'm quite convinced that this used to be different. Previous to 0.6 I could normally walk around on my ships with a 5 block high ceiling, now I can only sometimes force myself in. In first person this makes my boat go completely crazy.

  22. Heya! Up until 2 updates ago there used to be corpses, bones and skulls! However this causes the age rating of Ylands to be significantly higher in certain markets/countries. As the game is meant to be family friendly those have been taken out. I do agree that they were nice to have, I'd usually make a "vanitas" corner somewhere in my house
  23. At first when reading the title I thought "no, this game needs one massive world". Then I realized that say after a month, if a new player joins, he will have to sail over 2 hours just to find an unmolested island for himself to settle. This could actually be a solution to that, some form of teleporting/warping to different worlds. This could greatly decrease distances (although I feel that some sailing should still be necessary!), and make it possible to have loads of islands and resources. Another intermediate solution would be to have an infinite world with some kind of teleporters.

  25. Sweet, can't wait! Also be sure to share some more exterior pictures, the door area looks interesting but I can't really see it now. And some pictures a little bit further away to get a good global view is always nice as well
