RESOLVED Water behavior

Question

I'm sure people have run into this issue where you dig on the ocean floor or dig somewhere where you interact with water and it leaves all these fractured spaces where you dug. I made the mistake of digging up sand near my coast and it seems to have caused the ocean to sink in parks but not stay even. I tried evening out the bottom of the ocean with the flat shovel but the area is still sunken....as if one huge swath of ocean is one step down from the rest. Any work around? Is water going to be more fluid in the future? I'd imagine it filling in any gap you were to dig but it acts more like jello.

Anything on this?  We have a dedicated server and tried to dig out our bay.  Now it’s a big mess

I had the same issue, which i could partly fix by adding water in the Editor. Yet i overdid it, and now when things are settled down, the overall water level has risen to much inlands. On the surface it does look smoot(her) again, but when you go underwater, you can see random blobs of jelly and even air pockets where the water didn't fill in...
Needs to be look at for sure.

Yes it seem the ocean level is mess up. It doesn't seem to "fill" the the spot where we dig.

I even have 2 water level side by side like a escalator.

Yes, unfortunately water does not always behave as expected. We're aware of that but since it's not a trivial fix, we're currently focusing on more critical issues. That said we will get to it at some point and fix it :)

Just to clarify how and why it was "fixed" in the end.
Water (fluid simulation) was disabled in September 2018.
The system was added more as dynamic (funny) improvement for the game, but the way it was implemented could never be synchronized in multiplayer. Also there was never proper solution to what should happen when somebody makes "hole into sea". Basically it would always kill the performance and lead to crash no matter what.
