    Climate Change

I think its mainly luck where you start... i been dumped the last 2 tries on a temperate zone...no rubber..and hordes of wolves and grizzly bears waiting to taste my pixel flesh All i can suggest is to keep trying until you score a place that looks suitable. Each region island has its advantages and drawbacks, ..... that's the challenge! but i agree - those storms can be annoying , however they do seem to be seasonal...

    Rubber

sometimes you need to log out to the log in screen and re log to "give the crafting " tree a kick i know its a pain but the devs seem to be aware of it, and its a temporary hack until they get the bug killer spray can refilled

    Hang boat from ship?

I have seen on youtube some players making a scoop attached to the side of their ship to trap the smaller ship and therefore recover it -but it apparently affects steering ... maybe a tow rope be a possible solution ?

Can't feed stove/Smelting kiln anymore fuel

you need to be holding wood pieces to load the kiln etc ,, the use a flint lighter to light it.

RESOLVED So uh.. my boat is tilted.

If you are lucky, you might be able to slide the ship out from underneath them .It takes time skill and patience, but the other way is to use a hammer and destroy the tombstone ..and that takes time and patience!,,,just don't hit the ship hull and destroy it!

    Couple suggestions for the map

Better still being able to name the island ... so you can identify which ones you have visited. I try to leave behind some type of marker or flag but to be able to do it on the map would be awesome Also, being able to show the name of or original spawn island
  7. yood... are you using the trial version...which has been discontinued... or the paid for steam version? Its possible you might be using the wrong shortcut linked to an older version instead of the latest one. I had similar issues... so looked through my program files, found the older trial version was still there and deleted it.. I now only access the game through steam to ensure i am using the latest updated version .

    The Yland of "Despotica"

It looks like the time to leave despotica and start a new adventure. After a week of crafting and exploring and surviving, i have reached the stage were i have explored fully 10 islands.... and that's all i can find. I started this game prior to the steam release so it might have missed a lot of the enhancements that came with " countless colors". The sticking point is , 2 islands are polar and un -inhabitable, with no visible ore resources other than heaps of aggressive polar bears. one island had vertical sides all sides and impossible to land on, and one tropical island, which to its credit has rubber and heaps of coal / copper/ iron ore ... but that's all. ...and plenty of wolves ..i had to dispose of at least 15 and i could still hear them at night! Of the 7 other islands, they are all identical temperate regions, heaps of flint and clay, conifers, snow on the hills and 2 saltpeter deposits, but i can only find caves on 2 of them , and absolutely no sulphur anywhere... so advancement in the game is not possible. No sulfur, therefore no rubber slabs .. so unable to craft certain things needed to advance I scoured the seas around all the islands ..no desert island, just those 10 islands... and sharks! I found a group in a threesome that was highly amusing, but a bit to risque in appearance to place a screenshot here So .. looks like time to start a new adventure and hopefully spawn on a newer set up with more variety in ores and resources. For the records, i submit a screenshot of Despotica base, with the S.S Rockbottom moored in one of the dockyards.

    Clay virtually nonexistant

Depends ..i spotted just one 'square" of copper but after digging found an extensive vein of copper under it ..and iron ore along side. Sometime a vein of ore goes a long way underground, sometimes its just a surface layer

    No islands

This is the best idea .... the islands are really not that far away and if you do not reach one in one "yland day" then you are headed in the wrong direction. I have found island in sight of each other...like a figure "8" on a map ...another island was a cluster of small islands surrounded by shoals and difficult to navigate through. Firstly i suggest you do as invictus says ... look for where the birds are heading on your spawn island then sail around your island with it just out of load distance, looking for birds as a guide. Also craft a map ... you will need pencil ..paper and place the map in a dynamic slot on your toolbar. Sailing is easier now that there is a compass... in early days before the compass was available, it was easy to get lost!

    RESOLVED Water

i once experienced a similar issue ..and it was possibly due to a lag spike when loading the game ...because when i returned to log in screen and re logged, it fixed it. If not, sent output logs to the devs.
  12. The falling through the earth bug was attended to in the steam release... are you using it, or the trial version?
  13. If she has a desktop PC, ensure all ventilation slots are dust free...and that the tower is in a well ventilated area. You could try placing a desk fan nearby to force cooler air into the machine vents slots. If its a laptop, or tablet, try placing something like a couple of pencils ..or thin wooden slats to raise it off the surface its on .. to allow ventilation underneath. here are the min specs they suggest for running Ylands: Minimum Operating system: Windows 7/8/8.1/10 (64-bit Operating System Required) Processor: Intel Core i3-4160 @ 3.60GHz processor Memory: 4GB RAM Graphics Card: discrete DirectX 11 GPU with at least 1GB of VRAM DirectX: 11 Hard Drive Space: 500 MB Recommended Operating system: Windows 7/8/8.1/10 (64-bit Operating System Required) Processor: Intel Core i5-4690K @ 3.50GHz processor Memory: 8GB RAM Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 DirectX: 11 Hard Drive Space: 500 MB

    RESOLVED shovel...

Sometimes when there's a issue like this, simply logging out back to the log in screen ...and making a cup of coffee, and then re logging fixes things ... I have done this several times throughout my game when i cannot see something i need, and the break away from the monitor helps to preserve your sanity ..and also allows the system to catch up Blame gremlins hiding in the internet cables

RESOLVED Why i can't play Ylands?

This is what i found on the website regarding min specs: Minimum Operating system: Windows 7/8/8.1/10 (64-bit Operating System Required) Processor: Intel Core i3-4160 @ 3.60GHz processor Memory: 4GB RAM Graphics Card: discrete DirectX 11 GPU with at least 1GB of VRAM DirectX: 11 Hard Drive Space: 500 MB Recommended Operating system: Windows 7/8/8.1/10 (64-bit Operating System Required) Processor: Intel Core i5-4690K @ 3.50GHz processor Memory: 8GB RAM Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 DirectX: 11 Hard Drive Space: 500 MB I have an i3 with 16 Gb ram and a Nvidia gtx 750 I am not familiar with the operating speed of AMD .... but the 2.0 GHz might be an issue ...but i am not a technical expert. There will be an expert out ther,e who can enlighten us?
  16. That happened to me , as well If you read my tips for survival thread, i mention about marking your respawn area, and later coming back to it and placing a container, and a marker and putting inside the container a basic survival kit, ie grass clothing for warmth, a spear, an axe, flnt and a flint lighter, wooden pieces and some food. As the game progresses come back to that area and upgrade it .. perhaps moor a small boat / raft nearby. That way when you respawn, you do not start with absolutely nothing. And smile at the sharks....

    Wind Indicators?

It always seems to face the same direction...no matter what direction the wind is from It does't really mater, its just something the ship needs in order to function... Mine is placed on an extension at the stern ...and that's all you need to do, apparently.
  18. do you have bellows for the forge? you will need leather or cloth and a sewing kit ..made from yarn. Check to see hammer is not broken... You have to look for the item under crafting ... not inventory .. that caught me out! . Also not be near another station that can interact with you, Try moving away to a clear space, close all inventory.crafting windows.. then using Tab, go straight to crafting and look for an anvil under general list... make sure you have a hammer and iron etc in inventory ... and perhaps have the hammer 'equipped" that is, in your hand. I admit that finding some things can be tricky, but after a while you soon get the "feel" for it ... Have fun

RESOLVED Why i can't play Ylands?

Nvidia sent me an automatic "game ready" update for my video card driver yesterday. I suspect that most of the problems people are getting is due to their card not meeting the min specifications. I ave a Nvidia GTX 750 with 2 meg memory..and that's sufficient ... just .. as i do get some frame rate drop now and then. Also there's your internet connection... I am on fast adsl2, but sometimes i get lag spikes, especially during times of peak usage. Also wifi connections can slow you down ... I have a cordless mouse, and it was horrible... but fixed when i took the receiver from the back of my computer and plugged it into a usb extension cable which i taped to near my keyboard, about 300 mm from the mouse pad ... fixed it! I would suggest that anyone having difficulties should compare their set up specifications with the recommended ones. .... also ensure any antivirus / firewall has the game whitelisted.
  20. Could also be the graphics card not able to handle the graphics, and is overheating. I don't see it mentioned there? is it inbuilt?
  21. Know what you mean ..especially if you have full inventory. Maybe after they can get the steam release...and Christmas .. finished, these little things will be attended to. The forums are a like a kicked wasps nest at the moment... the initial buzz from the steam release. Patience, little grassshopper From what we have seen so far, they read these forums and fix what they can when they can ...

    Cant find the anivl

They changed the crafting tree a week or so ago ...and i guess its taking a little while "to settle down". After a while, you will get the hang of it If something will not " craft " check inventory to see if a tool needed is not broken, ie saws foe wordworking , hammer or chisels for stone working , or hammers for other things. The hammer bug has been reported and they are working on it ..its best to have several hammers spare... perhaps a "stone" one in your inventory as a back up.

    No islands

in my game i found the islands in a chain running from nw to se ... roughly. with a couple offset to either side. If you are sailing in a straight line and see no birds ... try zig...zagging. I actually sailed in a straight line between 2 islands an didn't see them...only discovered them on my return trip.
  24. I noticed it too ,but what you have to do move the item into a compartment in the container, and once its in, move it to the other item you want to merge it with. If the total is more than the amount allowable, the remainder will stay in the other compartment. eg. if there's 80 ingots in the container, and you have another 35 in inventory, move the 35 into a empty compartment in the container, - when its there then move it to the compartment containing 80 ingots.. that will now show 100, and 15 will stay in the other.

    No islands

try ( using compass as a guide) sailing first north for a while then east. then south then west then north back home ...around your home island. Plot your course manually on a piece of paper nearby... and mark dots where you see birds etc. Then when you have surveyed all around your island, mount an exploration expedition to where you saw any birds. Some islands are far away ...i have found 2 within sight of each other! Note which are polar and which are temperate or tropical ... it will give you an idea where to search. If no luck , sail in ever increasing circuits of your home island... they are there ( you are not alone....) ..it just takes patience
