    Dev Diary #41

Hi there! You know when it's summer time and your favorite TV show does a "recap episode" for you to keep track of everything that has happened so far? So today is one of those episodes But no, really, I just wanted to take this chance to look back and see what we've accomplished so far from the moment the game was firstly released back in November 2015. Egyptian Euphoria, released just a couple of weeks after the game was first out. So it all started in November 12th, 2015. Originally Ylands was only available in our Bohemia Interactive store, as we wanted to "keep it low" and start gathering a bit of feedback. And since then... well, we've released 29 updates 2015 Egyptian Euphoria: the first items to the game were added, Egyptian themed in this case, including mummies. Energy Exposed: the first iteration of the energy, that made it possible to create energy setups and have light. Happy Holidays: a bunch of Christmas related items. 2016 Amazing Alchemy: potion making and clothes dyeing. And animals feared the fire from this moment on. Gorgeous Gallery: paintings to decorate your houses. Elementary Editor: the very first version of the Editor, that let you create your own scenarios. Classy Containers: the first containers (you think you have it hard now? Think about the early ylanders ) Extended Editor: big features were added to the Editor, to make it closer to what it is nowadays. Fancy Furniture: the option to sit and lay both on the ground and chairs and beds. Happy Horse: first form of transportation in Ylands, the horse. Plus we introduced doors and keys. Armored Appearance: a wide range of armors and weapons. Wild West: gun shooting and Wild West themed items. Enormous Explosions: explosives and catapults. And this is where we started adding Places of Wonder into the game. Wicked Woodsman: the ability to cut trees down and lay traps. And the ever-so-useful Feedback Tracker was added to the game. Enjoyable Editor: another bunch of Editor improvements. And we added more scenarios for players to enjoy. Endless Exploration: the Survive mode changed its name to Explore mode and we introduced the whole "being able to sail to other ylands" concept. Boats & Buccaneers: the option to create your own ships, even with cannons. Plus we added underwater Places of Wonder. Playful Presents: the North Pole Factory scenario. 2017 Dangerous Depths: caves system, with mutated animals. For the first time it was possible to play the Explore mode in Multiplayer. Fabulous Funfair: Funfair scenario. And we added the Codex to the game. Wonderful Writing: we added books and the ability to write. Also, the option to sleep to be able to skip the night. Stylish Sharing: the Ylands Workshop was introduced. And the option to choose where to appear after dying (again, you think you have it hard? ) Rainy Roads: being able to build your own cars, also using engines (in ships too), and the weather system. Countless Colors: the painting system, padlocks, radial menu. And this is when the Ylands Store was introduced. A couple of weeks after the Countless Colors update, Ylands was released on Steam (Dec 6th, 2017). 2018 Cheerful Characters: NPCs and trading. It was now possible to sleep even in Multiplayer. Meaningful Music: new dynamic music and new head and hairstyles. We also added decorations. Comfortable Cooperation: blueprints, Sharegames, the Ylands name. ...and beyond! Of course these are only the "main features", there are quite a few other things that were added here and there - 29 updates are a lot of updates after all And many of these features wouldn't even be in the game if it wasn't for your feedback, so I think it's also nice to see how the game has been shaped thanks to you, and to see that we are all part of Ylands in a way I'd also like to take this chance to thank you for the feedback you've provided regarding the building - but more on that in the following weeks! Going through all the things we've added to the game made me feel nostalgic, what about you? Do you remember the old times, when X feature was missing? What's the feature that made you go: "YES, THEY FINALLY ADDED IT!" the most? And that's it for this week, guys! Hope you all have a great weekend!

    Sharegames FAQ

We've seen this issue before but our testers were not able to reproduce it so far. We'll look further!
  6. We managed to fix this and will appear as fixed in one of the future updates.
  7. Could you please elaborate and provide the exact reprosteps? If the game is running when you put those in the folders, if you restart Steam etc. I'm being told that restarting Steam should fix the issue.
  8. Right now the blueprints store only building blocks, not freely placeable items, but we wish to improve them in the future. If there's any other piece of feedback that comes to your mind about the blueprints, feel free to share it!

We'll be talking about pets a little bit more in 2 weeks or so
  10. You can always send the files to me privately So you've only seen this happen in your servers, right?
  11. Ane

    Steam linked to wrong account!?!

Where are you checking for the compositions to be shown? These should appear under the "Compositions" tab in the Editor.
  12. We'll look further, thanks! I'll let you know once I know more (unfortunately today and tomorrow are bank holidays in the Czech Republic, so it will have to wait at least until Monday, I'm afraid).
  13. So our testers tried to reproduce it, but they had no issues uploading these saves. One of our programmers will check if there's something in the logs!

I think it's safe to say sometime at the beginning of August
  15. Could you also send us the save you're trying to upload, please?
  16. Perhaps you wish to upload it to the Workshop so that other people can download and play it?

    New world map release

At this point we can't really tell when exactly the new world will be released, but no, it won't take 9 more updates
  18. CHANGELOG Comfortable Cooperation - 08/06/2018 HIGHLIGHTS Sharegames. When playing a Multiplayer game which is not hosted on a Dedicated Server, the usual problem is that as soon as the host goes offline, others can't access the game world. This is no longer an issue when you turn your MP game into what we call a "Sharegame". At that moment, it gets uploaded to the cloud, and when you go offline anyone you let join the game can simply continue playing it. At that moment, they become the host and if you come back online and want to return to your world, you just join the already active game. We provide all players with some free cloud space and number of sharegames they can have (it counts only towards data quota / sharegame slots of the owner of the game, not those who just join), which should be enough for a regular gameplay. If you require more, you can upgrade to a higher tier by paying with coyns. More info can be found here: https://ylands.com/community/topic/21252-sharegames-faq/ Blueprints. Blueprints are outlines of premade structures that you can put in your game. All you have to do is supply resources, and the structure will be built automatically. That means you don't have to build the structure by hand, which will save you a lot of time and effort. You can capture your own blueprints inside your barrier with a blueprint camera. You can also claim some for free and purchase some through the in-game store. In the future, we're also planning to put blueprints into the world for you to find as treasure. New GUI. In this update you will find the first iteration of the new GUI. It should be less confusing in many ways, more consistent across the whole game, and deal better with anything from future mobile platforms to high resolution PCs. For now it doesn't support gamepad nor keyboard controls - that will obviously change in the near future. We have great plans with it and you will see it improve with every single update. Single avatar appearance with a unique name. Starting with 0.9 you no longer select your avatar's appearance and its name when entering a new game. When you run this update for the first time you will be asked to create your game name, which will be unique for each player. You will be able to change it one more time after that, but that's it, so choose your name carefully. Your avatar's appearance can be changed as many times as you like from the Home section in the Main Menu. All your characters in both new and existing games will change their appearance to fit your choice. Direct game download. It is no longer necessary to go to the Ylands Workshop to subscribe to a game so that it gets downloaded and can be played - right now you can simply select what you want to play right without leaving the Ylands application (please note that creators still need to upload their creations via workshop.ylands.com). More editor options. It's now possible to edit even some very specific object settings in the editor - change object descriptions, how much and what kind of damage a weapon does etc. And this is just the beginning NEW FEATURES Players can now start games where players can't hurt each other (PvE) Adjusted stack count dialog now allows for a more precise control. Players can also enter the count into an input box. Added default voxel colors in each region for better results when working with terraformer Lowered color blending distance for voxels (almost no visual impact, but new games should generate a bit faster) Log drop rates from adult trees increased by 100% Building block adjustments Extended Protective barrier range to 90x90x90m We are in the process of unifying all building block sets. This will come in several steps: - Removing colors from names of building blocks, since everything can be painted now - Renaming building blocks, so that names always contain the word BLOCK for easy search (so no more panels, platforms, beams and others, just blocks); searching for BLOCK should give all results also for roofs, pillars and stairs - Unifying railings and fences under the keyword FENCE - Creating default building block sets and disabling the few blocks that don't fit into it Things that will be done in 0.10: - Completing all sets for all types of building blocks, so that players find every available block in every set NEW ASSETS Wooden door Blueprint camera FIXES Fixed bear reproduction rates Changed voxel types in some regions to better reflect their colors Boosted energy heaters to make them more useful Small energy switch and energy switch are now padlockable Fixed Ylandium lantern exploit Fixed burning candle overheating player when held in hands Horse hides now stack up to 5 in the inventory, as all the other hides do Fixed flax bundles in medieval gate encounter Ignite actions on explosives renamed to Ignite explosive Removed Vulture and Seagull from the Cube Fixed Medieval library tower encounter- key now fits the chest key Corals and seashells now drop pigments upon destruction Tombstone dropped after player death now despawns after 12 in-game hours (24 minutes with default settings) Lowered player tombstone HP so players can easily destroy it if it's in the way [YLD-9720] Inconsistent colors of text symbols on scribbled tombstones/signs [YLD-9701] Combat music was delayed sometimes [YLD-9292] Combat music didn't stop and continued even after relog and respawn [YLD-9560] Predator warning music was attached to an avatar after a battle [YLD-9669] Fixed sleeping not being usable for some players due to the "Sleeping panel is open for someone else" error being shown when it shouldn't. Blueprinting ships-not a thing?

Right now it's not possible to capture a ship as a Blueprint, but this is what the second iteration of Blueprints will bring (and cars too), possibly sometime after 0.10.

Yes, was this in one of our servers?
  21. Actually, the option to link account is currently disabled due to an issue we had. You don't really need to link accounts anyway at this point, so you should be good! Also, I'll send you a PM to change your name here on the forum, since you've got your email address right now
  22. Is it different from this one here? [YLD-10696] [GUI] Search doesn't work in Custom games
