RESOLVED [YLD-18314] Black screen on startup, only music in pirated version of Ylands

every time I try to load up ylands it shows a black screen but with sound. does anyone know how to fix this? I tried deleting ylands from regedit but it still didn't work.

Hey, I am not apart of the Ylands team but hopefully I can help you out. After looking through the output log you posted it seems like you are using a pirated version of the game. The logs show that you are trying to load version 0.22 of the game which came out over 2 years ago. Version 0.22 also happens to be the most readily available pirated version for Ylands. I can also see from the log file that the games directory is located in your downloads folder which doesn't happen when you download the game from steam. I recommend obtaining a legal copy of Ylands from steam. It's only 15$. That should fix the issue you are having.

Thank you Shadow72 for the quick answer, and yes, we can confirm, that the trouble you're having is because you are playing a pirated version of the game. The easiest fix and the one we'd recommend is to buy the official version, where this doesn't happen. And if you do enjoy the game, there is an added bonus of supporting its developers ?

Well worth the price to get a legit copy, especially with all the updates since that pirated version and all the upcoming updates.  If you're playing a version that old, it's hardly even the same game, really.

But then why would  a website have a pirated version if it doesn't work anyways? If it didn't work, multiple people would have said and they would have deleted it.

I think you can return it in steam if you don't like it.  I think it's like under 3 hrs played?  I really don't know.  I have returned games that I got them and they weren't what I thought they would be.  I do know there is a time limit, but I don't know what it is.
