    RESOLVED Ship jumps when picking

Curious if you are all building while the ship is anchored, or not? I build while anchored and haven't had this issue? While not anchored, the boat moves with the waves and it would make placing very hard!
  2. Something has gone wrong between your horse, it's allocated island (one horse per island, can't summon a horse from one island, on another island), and / or the water, horse not being able to swim, having programming that likely makes it avoid water etc. Some possible workarounds could include killing your beloved horse (rip) or maybe the raft, though more likely the horse (or somehow returning your horse to its island alive :S)

Slightly off-topic but - can anyone confirm the new commands list? Commands like /additem and /sethour do not seem to be working any longer?

RESOLVED Crash on launch / Game doesn't start (Steam=

Your PC spec seems like there should be no issue, I would have to concur with the driver updates, failing that, any supporting software or technology that your card or operating system (windows 8) might require (windows updates or game ready technology). I hate to sound like a sales-person as well! But you can get your hands on a free upgrade to windows 10, if you were interested in doing such a thing (expires at the end of this month) - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/accessibility/windows10upgrade It seems likely that windows 10 may resolve any issues that windows 8 might face.

Could you please run a DXDiag and post the results? Do you know your PC system specs? In Windows, select Start and enter dxdiag into the search box on the taskbar. Select dxdiag from the results. In the tool, select Save All Information for an easily shared format.

RESOLVED YLands (Steam) Crash on launch

Hi there, this was resolved on an individual case basis, rather than a catch-all! "After googling the error contained within the files i found the solution that worked. I had to shut down RivaTuner Statistics Server / MSI Afterburner and the game launched just fine." I will see if I can help in your thread.

    Port used for Dedicated server?

I believe there is currently no Steam compatible dedicated server available at the moment, if you are referring to the multiplayer functionality within the current Steam game client, you do not need to port-forward your connection I don't think. If you do perhaps, it could be the Steam port of 28015?

    Everything is black

    - https://www.lifewire.com/nvidia-optimus-technology-834096 " What is Optimus? Optimus is a technology by NVIDIA that automatically adjusts graphics based on how you're using the device to better conserve battery power on a laptop computer. Sometimes this is referred to as a hybrid graphics system. How does Optimus work? Optimus transitions between integrated graphics and a discrete GPU automatically based upon what applications a user launches so you can utilize high performance graphics during gameplay or when watching an HD movie. When you're done or are simply surfing the web, Optimus-enabled systems can switch to integrated graphics to prolong battery life, which is a win-win for users. What are the benefits of using a laptop with Optimus technology? The key benefit of using a notebook with Optimus technology is better battery life as the system isn't running the more power demanding discrete graphics card non-stop. By automatically switching between integrated graphics to a dedicated graphics card, you'll find battery life to improve in mixed computer usage situations. Since the system is done automatically, it also improved upon previous hybrid graphics systems that required the users to manually switch between the two graphics systems. " - If your laptop is Optimus enabled, in Control Panel - Power management - are you using a high performance profile setting?

    RESOLVED [YLD-7927] Interact/Harvest Bug

One possible work-around you could attempt, to continue on with your game, would be to load that game in to the editor, and delete your character (this has worked in the past for similar issues). You could also spawn in some things to replace your inventory in the process. After saving the game in the editor, and upon reloading the game, you will likely be prompted to create a new character, and your things *should* work again. Also submitting your game logs etc via the game client link prior to doing any of this, may help the developers address the issue and resolve it faster!

RESOLVED YLands (Steam) Crash on launch

Not sure if this helps, no idea if this is Ylands related or your system related, however in the meantime prior to a Ylands official commenting, some things I would try - Restart PC Restart Steam If still giving this issue - Uninstall and reinstall the game. If still giving this issue - Check for the latest DirectX and game-ready prerequisites are installed. Check for driver updates for your GeForce GTX 760 and / or your Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU W3680.

    Big Bertha

Haha yeah, I was going with a play on words for 'berth' ! berth bəːθ/ noun 1. a ship's allotted place at a wharf or dock.
  14. Hi all, So I built a ship in the editor and painted it navy grey, all worked well, saved the ship as a composition file, all worked well. I then created a new explore mode game, loaded back to the menu, then loaded that game in to the editor. I then pasted in my ship composition, however, the navy grey colours that I had set to it, and that show up on it pre-spawn (the preview), become randomised when I spawn it in to the world. By randomised, I mean they are any odd colour combination it feels like. I repeated the process, and this time, with a new explore mode game save, the colours were different! I repeated the process several more times, each time I create a new explore mode save game, it spawns in with a new set of colours. If I spawn it in, then delete it, and spawn it in again, it is the same random colour for each map - almost like the explore mode save is choosing the colours! Hope this helps and it can be resolved, as my navy grey ship, doesn't look so good as bright red, pink and brown! I can film a video if needed, the ship is on the workshop otherwise. *** Edit *** Okay so, it seems that, if I spawn in the composition in a new editor scenario (not an explore mode) - it spawns in with no paint at all, except for the original large ship that I built it on. Further still, it only seems to spawn in correctly, on the very same scenario that I built it on - suggesting that the paint colours are being stored in the scenario, and not the composition file, thus it going haywire as soon as these two factors are separated. *** Edit *** Another possible contributing factor, the original ship was a composition created by my other account! I just noticed. Only the Large Ship object itself is showing up as under that account, the rest is showing up under this account. Making a video to explain this better.

    Steam

Steam Keys were sent out to those whom had purchased the game, prior to sales halting awaiting the Steam release (in approximately 16 hours). If this is the case for you, a Steam Key should have been sent to the email address that you used to register the Bohemia Interactive account with. It should have been sent some weeks ago, is there no email?

No menu when starting the game

It seems like you have been effected between the gap of the old game client being discontinued, and the new game client releasing on Steam (in 18 hours). I can't imagine anything other than waiting till the release on Steam will work for you now, I'm sorry to say. Absence does make the heart grow fonder though so...
  17. Hi all, So I love the updates, they are great fun, but sadly I must post the bugs as usual and bring down the mood If anyone else has something that I've missed, feel free to contribute to this thread. - Ship compositions All ship / boat compositions that I had saved, and all those from the workshop (I've tried deleting them and re-downloading etc), are bugged beyond belief, they appear to be over layering hundreds of ships on top of each other. This causes them to create immense system lag while hovering over them in the editor, and if you attempt to spawn one, the system overloads and freezes up completely (requiring a reboot). You can see the attached picture for an example, or simply try download any ship compositions from the workshop and spawn the composition in the editor to see it first hand. - Ships / Boats in multiplayer (dedicated server) As soon as you step foot on a ship in multiplayer, the screen starts doing a weird shaking thing that does not stop until you relog, and even still then persists if you go back to your ship, I spawned these ships using the cube, so it is possible this is related. I first noticed this while using an anchor on a ship, however, since then it has happened just by landing on a ship. Further, it seems that there is an issue with the interaction between the new waves system and the ship floating, as the ships with these issues, are not moving with the waves. After this bug happens, moving around and trying to walk or swim all bugs out. I can record a video of it if needed, it happened while I was streaming so it can be observed there as well. Most recently, I fell under the map when this bug occurred, and became unable to log back in until I rebooted the server, as it was becoming stuck on "raising oceans 33%". Also, whenever using an anchor, it says "failed", though this bug seems trivial in comparison. Also worth noting, is that as soon as you spawn a ship with the cube, it tends to fall down, land in the water and start floating - this however is not the case since the update, the ship spawns static and does not start floating, this seems highly related to the issue. I've just tested rafts - getting on a raft is just fine, operating a raft works fine (though the waves are a bit odd!), as soon as you get off the raft, the screen shaking starts. This issue persists through a relog, it requires a new character to fix it (/killme). - Energy switches in multiplayer (dedicated server) This is still bugged, though I heard talk of updating the energy system, so perhaps this isn't going to be a bug in the future anyway, but as it stands, if a guest tries to operate an energy switch, on the guest's screen, nothing happens, on the host's screen however, you can see the actions happening from the switching. - Logged out deaths in multiplayer (dedicated server) Are players still able to starve / freeze while offline? If so, they can die inside a locked house while logged off, then have no way to get back inside (as their key is inside). Simple solutions could be to have players disappear while offline (taken out of the game world), or simply stop the effects of hunger etc applying to them while offline. On a positive note, the dedicated server seems pretty stable, good job devs!
  18. How is it the wrong thread? It is directly related to the OP's question / bug, and all these bugs are related I believe. Read through the comments from the start please.

    CANT REPRODUCE [YLD-6903] Editor limits

I've had the can't delete issues occur for me several times on larger builds, though I'm struggling to reproduce it at the moment. I think it's in one of my streams so I will see if I can find an instance of it. Secondly, if I spawn in something large like a town, and then spawn it again on top a couple of times, then try and highlight all blocks to group them, my system also freezes up for about 10 minutes!
  20. I and anyone else trying to use boats in multiplayer are still having this issue >.< Here's how you reproduce the problem your selves, or at least something related to it - this is not a minority issue at all, unless you also consider ships and multiplayer to only be interacted with by a minority of players, which would be incorrect. I will show you one way to trigger this issue consistently, but please note this was originally posted in great detail, three weeks ago, prior to Steam release, and the people experiencing this issue are now widespread, not isolated, and these are game-breaking bugs. Okay so, I first try to trigger the 'earthquaking' while in single player (by hopping on a raft), and it doesn't happen, then I enable multiplayer, and test the raft and it doesn't happen. I then host a multiplayer session and join to it as a guest, and repeat the test - and the earthquaking is triggered with this method consistently. After triggering it, as I climb up the hillside, I am constantly falling under it and flying above it. Last time I tested this, I completely fell through the ground and fell to a frozen death! I also tested horses as a guest in multiplayer, but they work okay (a bit odd walking but not triggering this effect after getting off a horse). I'm not entirely sure if something other than boats in multiplayer can trigger this, but it's possible something like harvesting a plant or tree for sap etc, could be linked to it? As I've had it happen to me as a guest on multiplayer, without ever touching any boats. Most recently on a hosted version of race yland game mode, there was some kind of invisible sink-hole in the track, that seemed very similar in behaviour as I walked through it. I can only guess that all these issues are tied together somehow, it sort of seems like it could be somehow related to the weather and waves system, as it started happening at the same time these systems were introduced, and there is some strange interactions between waves and large boats (not floating etc), that can be observed by using an anchor on a boat, as a guest in multiplayer. This video is unlisted, and can be deleted once sufficiently observed. The bug can be observed at 1:42. At around 6:45, you can notice that after sinking the raft, the bug continues up until the moment the raft touches the sea-floor, at which point the earthquaking stops. Again, you can find more information about these particular bugs, in numerous posts throughout the forums, most of us are experiencing them, they are not isolated cases, they are game-breaking. People play explore mode in multiplayer, some of those people build a ship, boat or raft and will thus encounter this bug - to say those people are a minority, is terribly inaccurate. As it stands, I can't play Ylands as a game, because I do multiplayer, and I do explore mode, and I do building a ship to explore with. So I've just been waiting patiently all month for a fix for this, so I can play again I wanted to build a naval battle game mode with the new engines - but I can't because ships are bugged in multiplayer

    Ylands on Steam

Hi there, this issue is currently isolated to the multiplayer version of the game, as far as I can tell. It is most often associated with boats, however, it can spontaneously happen in other instances as well. I've tested boats in single player, and they are just fine, I think this issue may be isolated to 'guests' rather than a host of a game session, similar to the energy issue in multiplayer not displaying for guests correctly. I'm in the process of filming it now, will post shortly.

DEV ANSWER Game performance / entity amount limitations

I found that I had to abandon the idea of the Racing & Resort game mode I made, primarily because every time you came back around the island to the 'resort' side of it, it would cause some lag and stuttering as it loaded all the blocks in, which was likely going to be the case, I just didn't think about it in advance of building it! My second attempt - Race Yland, is almost flawless as far as smooth fps goes, primarily I presume down to the 'play area', and the fact that the only blocks consist of a tower that is generally too small to cause and loading issues. I think one thing that could improve this in the future, would be that of bundling of blocks together in to larger blocks, as you mentioned earlier. Effectively only having to load in one giant block, instead of thousands of individual blocks etc.

    Subscribe to own workshop?

Hi all, So is there any way to subscribe to your own workshop creations? I would like to be able to run a game mode that I have released to the workshop, however, it does not show up in the client's list of game modes (via Steam), and as I cannot subscribe to my own on the website, is there any way to import them from one Steam client to another? Since the Steam migration, the file system does not look the same! So I'm unsure where the game modes are being saved. I've checked in - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ylands And in documents\Ylands - but this only seems to show compositions.
