Please give us pre-removing-first-person multiplayer in the beta branches!

There seems to be no immediate plans to give us the first person back, so please give us the latest multiplayer version before the removal of the first person as a beta branch option! Unsupported as it is, it is a low-effort effective way of getting more people interested in the game and in getting the old people who left the game back into the game. The game is already free, but you could even launch it as a paid DLC, to have the people who already paid for it pay for it again.-

Hi guys, So after spending countless hours playing on multiplayer Explore servers I have reached a conclusive question. "Even on a largely populated server, why is it so difficult to find and communicate with other players" Minecraft addresses this problem by making it's in-game chat feature globally broadcast to all players on a server. Im thinking Ylands can do one better! Whilst global chat would solve the issue, it might make communication too easy. The feeling of being alone and stranded is a charming feature of the game. I suggest that if players put in a little work, they can craft themselves some type of Radio. Using the Radio would open a dialogue box where you can tune in to other player's radios and send-receive messages in both real-time and in an Email format. Its an idea that I'm sure could do with some refining but let me know what you think guys! Thanks Rob

RESOLVED [YLD-13448] Multiplayer maps not remaining in active games window

We have two servers, each with an identical map. When you choose one, or the other, the active games window will only show one, not the other. It can be found in MPLobby, but it does not stay persistent in the Active games window. We have tried renaming one map, but still same issue. Thank you. output_log_clean.txt output_log.txt -
My husband and I recently started playing Ylands and wanted to play together. However when I set up MP mode, name my island, set passcode and set mode to visible ge still can't find me. We tried this both ways and the game doesn't show up in either of our mp libraries. Please help. This is quite frustrating. Also, I know nothing about setting up a server and all that. Hoping we wont have to do that. Why can't it just be easy to set up to play with 2 people....

Introduction: First of all, I just wanted to say thank you to the Ylands team for the latest update and the QA video. The Meaningful Music update has made exploring much enjoyable and pure. I've missed the function ever since I first heard it in Jak 2. (The music would go normal, but as soon as you'd pick up your weapon it will become more tactical. Come on, my 12 year old brain was floored when I realized it was happening). The source: During the QA video Filip Vondrášek said that the current solution for the request of more/bigger islands, would be new worlds connected together. This was an idea I was wishing would be implemented when I started playing (around the 0.6 update), since this would create many fun possible encounters in the Ylands world. I mean, I have tons of words and gratitude for this. The idea: There was little information on that part, but I just wanted to tell my suggestion and hear if it's a good idea/impossible/will be implemented/already considered after 1.0. The idea is simply that every sea border is connected to another server when the world is public. The game catches the essence of exploring, crafting, and creativity, but it has hidden potential if it's limited to one world and 8 players. The sea borders would connect to other worlds where other players would possibly be. Think of it like a grid-map, where every space is a server. I mean, it seemed like a good suggestion considering whenever you'd on water, lag wouldn't be that big of a problem since when you're usually safe and nothing too much is happening. The problem: I know this isn't to be expected, but I would just further elaborate on the problems this idea also has, which is mostly food for thought as the solution could be many. The problem with this system is that if we were to place another server right next to the border, what would it take to consideration as other players also would cross borders ? What if you're placed next to a dead public server, will you be forever stranded away from people? What if some random person keeps coming back from their server and keeps griefing you? The bordering server would have to be a world where other players are, or it would just fill your sea borders up with empty servers and it would basically be a way-to-complicated terrain-generator. It checks for servers when the player crosses the sea border, then places one with an average of 1 to maximum allowed players. (lag. yikes) If a world contains a banned player from your server, it will be filtered out of choosing when you're crossing the sea-border. This goes both ways as in, the banned user can't find your server either. When the world is offline/inactive (in correspondence to the 0.9 cloud hosting where all players are offline) you lose all the border-servers, or if you close it down manually(?). The other server's name would be displayed as a discovery on your screen whenever you cross over to another world. This way you could keep track of whenever you enter a new server if your bordering server has changed because it's become empty, and swapped with an active server instead. This could be called the "mirage" effect. Thank you for reading!

Hello, So, im recently new to the game(only active playing for a week) and I really really love the game. Like reeaaalllyy. So I rented a small server, and I play with a friend of mine. Now, I misplaced some items(beginners mistake) and the two minutes passed. Now, most of all my ship needs altering, and its not the place the barrier. Is there anyway I can alter the server files to go to creative without taking the server offline? Or should I download the server files, go sp creative in editor (dunno whether it is even possible??) Change what i need, upload the files again and dont have any trouble with personal and player data? Thanks:)

I feel like we need a much much larger ship, at least for multiplayer. Here's why; The large ship we already have is great, don't get me wrong. It's a decent size for everything you need, but this is only decent enough for one person. Playing with 2/3 of my friends, ships can get very crowded relatively quick, especially if we're packing up to explore a new island and need our crafting items. On multiple occasions we would accidently push each other overboard or fall off due to lack of room. Not only this, but once more players are on an island, resources are used up much quicker, therefore the option of building a boat for a crew of 1/2 is a much harder feat. The small ship size also really silences the huge amount of creativity I know many people are capable off. So many creations I see with massive ships are hugely put off by a tiny little unrealistic hull sitting at the bottom, as the is no other choice to build these things To defeat issues like this, I think a great idea would be a much larger ship, perhaps twice the length of the current max size, and triple the width? I know I saw a lot of suggestions for a built in hull space, which I think is a great idea. This would mean a lot of ship builds would be less messy and cluttered, especially with the current ship+building on ship small bugs. Watching Youtube videos on the game will show you quickly just how popular the boat/ship function in the game is, and in all honesty everybody's childhood pirate loving side comes out when building said ship. I feel like a much bigger sized ship would really, really expand on this and make the game even greater!

I love Multiplayer because I want the random encounters with other players. But first I have to find a server that works. As in no lag no disconnects. And I do find them btw. But those OFFICIAL SERVERS are not always the stable ones. Plus they can be insanely boring. The server host of the OFFICIAL SERVERS has often used a generic world with few mineral sources. Or something else that is offsetting like same old landscape we have all seen 1000 times no improv. The non-official servers often work better with less lag than the officials. And have people being more creative with the actual landscape (not just showcasing that they build the best boats) as in placing more minerals and animals. But it does not matter if you are OFFICIAL or you are independent. I am lucky to get one maybe two days to build in your server before BYE BYE. You are gone no where to be found and you never come back. At this point some Johnny is going to comment on my thread, "Join my discord podcast official server open 24hrs night and day never shuts down I swear it!" You are lying. And lagging. Everyone shuts their server down in a few days time. E V E R Y O N E And if you really are that one bloke who's server is still running along a month later it is going to be one I cannot join because of disconnect issues or lag. So Multiplayer burnout is eventual because I can only build my bamboo hut 1000 times just to loose it before omg this is getting old. I want to play with others but I don't want to loose my stuff after two days of play cause gone away. At this point some Johnny is going to comment on my thread, "So make your own world and host it!" No one joins my world and I have no way to gauge if anyone is trying to join and my server is failing and kicking them. I might have more luck if I leave up a world and invite a friend so I can at least get in the 1/8 charts. Maybe others would try to join if they thought I'm populated. But without being able to see if anyone is trying to join and getting d/c'd there is no point. And I am not turning into a Discord Jokey either so I can ask people how their experience was. Not my thing. Letting people host their own worlds is neat. But how do you get a host to stay and never go away? Offer them some incentive rewards for keeping their world open longer maybe?

Okay, I'm grateful that the whole "Host Unreachable" thing has been removed because it's annoying to see that error and not know what causes it. But I'm still having trouble connecting to my friend in multiplayer. Once I got connected it gave out the Network Layer Error (2) message and when I try to reconnect it's like a dice roll whether or not I can join his game. I know it's not my internet because when I do manage to connect, we can play Ylands with little to no latency, it when you disconnect or reconnect that the problem starts. Also, total newb here, how do I post my game's log? I know that has useful info on it. I really wanna play with my friends

Here is another story from my early playthrough after Cheerful Characters update in official MP server. First of all, I don't know how it happen, 1 thing that I'm sure, my internet connection is not stable, it often have lots of RTO after 30-40 minutes. (My ISP have problem, I think) So I've been building my base at the middle of seas. Just like usual, placing blocks by blocks, fishing, eating(bug for eat non-edible stuff still there, if you scroll at the middle of eating animation), creating stuff. While doing those, I got "Connection Time Out" which ofcourse kick me from the server. Then after my internet running fine again, I'm continue playing in that server. At that moment, I realized, my heart(Health point) is yellow just like when you equip "the mighty cube" but without cube logo beside it. Then I decide to go to the cave in nearby island to test it out. I'm indeed become immortal! @&!(@&$^!! I said.. God give me such a mighty power! or it's a curse.. I don't need to eat, I can breath underwater without the mask, my health never goes down(didn't try to falling damage yet). For me it's kinda fun to become immortal, but I'm afraid if someone who can't handle the responsibility get this mighty power, that's why I'm reporting this. I swear to all Ylands Gods that exist , I won't become griefer by using this power. If you want to do something, please don't reset my character in the server, because I don't like not being able to access my own stuff. I lock all of my chest, doors, boats, ship, and placed the PB. I'm afraid if you reset my character, I don't have all my old keys, and I will lost my access to my PB.. Hope you can do something for it. Thanks. For some reason, my Ylands game doesn't update/generate the output_logs. I deleted my old output_logs long time ago. So I don't have the logs now.. This is more of a technical issue, rather than a bug. After doing some research, joining different servers and such, there is a big gap of waiting... Lets say you want to join a server that's well established, been around for awhile... (Example, my server) here is the break down of times per handshake event Establishing a Connection: ~5-10secs *There is a very long pause here looking at blue sky...( ~35s-40s of nothingness.. many would think server has lagged/crashed ) (During this time, people on the server, are frozen in-place, which makes a lot of them disconnect/frustrated/blaming me for bad server) Start of downloading data: ~45-50sec * this part is dependent of servers data ( ~15-20secs, could use improvements) Start of loading data: ~1:05m-1:10m Seeing your Character in-game: ~1:15m--1:20m (this is fine, computer dependent) Please have a look into this, especially the part of "nothingness" at least.. would be great to eliminate all of that time. PS: This is a DS also. -
When people try joining the world i have shared they constantly get host Unreachable and there nothing i can do to fix it, ive tryed turning my firewall off and opening ports and nothing works, been seeing this with a lot of other people and i hope it gets fixed soon. in beginning when i first got ylands i was able to share my world and couple of days later i was no longer able to do it, my game did crash while in my world and after that people havent been able to join.

It would be great if no one else is on the server you could use a bed to sleep in to skip the night. If multiple people are on a server and they all agreed to sleep at the same time it would also work to allow them to skip the night. Thanks!

[Feedback] My Experience Playing in MP Public Server(Official Server)

After I played in MP Public Server about a week now, I have encounter several issues (Game Version: 0.6.3.43619). I'm really sorry if my words is harsh and spelled wrong, I'm still in rage mode ON when I post this thread. Let me honestly explain/summary one by one. First there is several issues with the current Protective Barrier (PB). 1. Anyone who don't have claim of Protective Barrier able to dig/pour soil in someone's PB. In this case my friend @YadNiMonde experience this issue. (Very Critical) 2. Anyone can build chest/furniture inside someone's Protective Barrier. In this case I tried myself, actually I was attempting to protect @YadNiMonde house because he forgot to lock the door and have 2nd floor able to climb by anyone who jumping from trees to 2nd floor. I put chests to block the doors and stairs lead to 2nd floor. (Moderately Critical) (Note: I did like above picture before, griefer ruin YadNi's house.) 3. Anyone can lock anything (that can be lock) inside someone's PB. This issue potentially can be subject for griefers to piss off someone. (Very Critical) 4. PB should have setting if you wanna share your claim to someone, shutting down the barrier is bad idea for sharing claim. (Optional) 5. Any plants (ex. Orchid, berries, cotton, Trees not included) inside Protective Barrier is simply not safe. Anyone can still pick up those plants. So you can't make beautiful garden outside your house. (Critical) 6. Player that remove their character history in the server should make their Protective Barrier decay/gone. I honestly didn't try this (I avoid to be one of the griefer). But this point can be subject of the griefer if they're able to get multiple PB by removing their character history. (Moderately Critical) I think that's all for Protective Barrier issues, that I encounter. Moving next to personal issue (Client side issue). Basically this issues can be fixed by restart/relogin and consciousness of yourself. 1. Exploiting soil see-through. Able to see through soil is huge problem in PVP Server. In this case, I did myself and found someone (won't call his name) who desperately hiding inside the cave. (Whoever this guy in the picture, I know your feeling buddy. I didn't kill or take your stuff, I left the sign message for you there. ) (Moderately Critical) 2. This is bug that I encounter myself, you can open basically any chest that generated by server with Key Chain ( I'm desperately carry 30+ keys in my Key Chain). I'm able to unlock MK 1 armor chest at the tower with my Key Chain, even I didn't have first key at sunken sphere. And I'm also able to unlock Pirate Chest (which has old coins and musket) with my Key Chain without actually getting the Pirate Chest real key. (Critical) 3. Able to glitch character through the ground with rope ladder(and any other ladders maybe). I honestly found the rope ladder being placed by someone. Since I already have propeller pack on my back, glitching through the ground is not a biggy for me. I can simply fly to anywhere and glitch through on top of the ground or inside the cave again. (Critical) 4. Ship being blackout without anything on it for certain condition, only the hull is visible with really black color. I encounter this bug when I'm flying around island to get map data, and then back to my ship. This problem can be fixed if you relogin. (Moderately Critical) 5. Inventory item in some cases, will be duplicated. I honestly don't know how this happen, but I got 2 herb bags with exact amount and the same herb I have in other herb bag. And I got stone block that duplicated at another time. (Moderately Critical) 6. Sharks on the land seems still be problem for you, Devs. Even though they're not that much. Here is the picture. I think it happen when your screen generate yland. (Moderately Critical) 7. Blocks overlap each other, this issue happen when you click too fast when building using continuous feature. Basically the blocks will overlap each other at the same place. (Moderately Critical) I think thats all I have. I'll surely update this thread if I forgot something. My most concern is about PB, even with PB placed I'm not feeling safe playing in MP Public Server with those re*ards griefer. At current state, multiplayer is playable, but most of the time you'll never have "positive fun" at the end. Currently I will stop playing MP Public server until the PB issues being fixed. I'll summon devs that I know, @Aleš Ulm, @Khanecz, @Ane. I'm sorry, I have to summon you guys, just to let you know. (Note: All of the pictures above is taken from Public Multiplayer Server (Official Server). My message to all of the griefer out there, I warn you to NOT do what I was said above! You simply ruin someone's experience! If you wanna get "real fun" in the game, simply don't be an *ssh*le. Bonus picture: "I made complete public starter camp with basic stations near generated blacksmith on the spawn island, so newcomer can progress little bit faster. But someone who re*ard enough, place the PB on it. Maybe I'm just too kind to those people, I'll surely never do that again. OR Maybe someone generous enough to let his only PB placed to protect it." -
Multiplayer suggestions to make it more playable

I love Ylands. Its a great game. However the multiplayer needs serious fixing. Firstly, at the moment we have protective barriers which are great however they need to also stop others placing dirt, digging, planting etc... I started a new multiplayer map and spent a while making a nice house inside the protective barrier. Although people can't directly destroy the house, they can place dirt and plant trees. When I returned to my house it was covered in dirt which was obviously very annoying. The protective barriers need to stop others from also placing and removing the earth. Second. I locked the door to my house and also locked two of the important chests just in case. No one should be able to take my stuff inside the locked house. However, when I returned the chests which weren't locked were all looted. I believe this is because people can look through the windows (and maybe walls) in first person and interact with things inside the house even though they are outside. This also must be fixed. Lastly, I don't mind people attacking others since that is kinda part of the game but the combat mechanics in multiplayer make it very hard to hit others. When you click to attack, most times you end up hitting the ground even though they are right next to you. This means its very hard to defend your base as people can just run around you, and then cover your house with dirt . Which brings me to another point. When you do finally kill someone there needs to be a penalty of some kind. It's impossible to stop someone if they can forever respawn and keep coming back. These are my suggestions. Hi guys, can you please switch protocols to udp, as there's tons of issues with tcp in any multiplayer game. I've literally watched myself and others be dos'ed again and again on dedicated via the monitor over the tcp handshake. No multiplayer games use tcp because of issues like these, a few lost packets is no big deal. Also, I posted a few hints about entity disposal in the Unity C# api last month for your benefit, and I never got a response? It's a major issue that results in a crazy amount of lag, if the object super classes have been set up properly it shouldn't be hard to differentiate between free placed/pre-generated objects and dropped (player or newly generated) objects. Which would clear up a lot of the lag from too many entities.

Hi, I was playing with my friend in multiplayer. I got kind of lost and when I found our ship, It was completely bugged (see screenshots). I tried to run on the ship and got stuck. When I tried to write the unstuck command, my game got frozen in chat and then crashed completely. It only happened to me, my friend (as the host) saw the ship normally. Hi, I just bought the game with 2 friends of mine but whenever ı tried to create multiplayer room they cant enter or it says "Host unable to reach" When they create room ı keep waiting in loading screen like 10 min but still cant enter. Can you help me with that problem we realy want to play this game. Now ı heard ı had to upload this two log files to quick fix here you go: output_log.txt output_log_clean.txt

RESOLVED Unable to Join Certain Explore Servers

Hello! I have been experiencing this problem since the Steam launch where I get stuck on the loading screen on specific Explore servers. Sometimes the revolving loading bar at the bottom of the screen appears, but quickly disappears leaving only the flavor text at the top of the screen cycling continuously. No amount of time spent on this screen seems to have any progress in regards to actually getting onto the server. This has happened to me quite a few times, and on different official servers as well. Sorry if my English not quite good enough. It happen when we (about 4 players) build a ship not just a small ship , large ship too. And we all sail together.But it happen when other players log out and stay in a ship ,We sail back to home when they didn't log in to server and when they want to come in to server , it's alway Freeze and crash the game, also broke my direct3D (i don't know it happen because my pc or the game) So i must restart my pc and start the game over and over (about 10 times) , but it's in the same way "Crash" . I don't know what's a problem but i think it happen when player's model and player's that log out in last time position dosen't in a same position such as , Player A logout while he stay in a ship (in a location far away from home) . Then, Player B (host) sail back to home . When Player A log in back to server. Host go crash. Please fix this bug . i don't wanna create another server again T_T (It's happen only player who stay in a ship) -

Hi. First off, loving the game. To the point where my kids nagged me so they could join. Bought three copies. I wanted them to join my island and all was well. Normal disconnects etc. We went from my spawn island by large ship to a "desert" biome. I have been there before and did some looting in single player. When i took my daughters there, the first bit was fine. We were able to dig ore, harvest melons etc. I wanted to show them the "traveller statue" with the backpack of bamboo and bank safe with the wolf head on top. Even in single player, when being near it, i would dig and it would make the sounds, but nothing happened with the terrain etc. only when i run back to my ship, would it suddenly update. The same thing started happening with multiplayer. To the point where they were stuck in the "pickup" animation. Tried to relog, they can't join. Single player is fine, until they try to join. Publishing server is fine, play is fine like that, until they join. At this point they cannot join and my right mouse button stops working. I killed them, recovered all their things, went back to my island hoping its just the area. Still the same happens. If you have a solution, we just managed to craft the flying potion and was pretty much rolling on the floor laughing. Please help if you can?

sir/mam, i have been playing this game for almost about 20 hours now and i haven't build any stuff in the game just explored around the map still i am noticing a considerable amount of lag in every 5-10 minutes and even at the medium quality setting i am getting the frame rate around 30fps. Then i have tried to play multiplayer but it gets stuck at the loading screen only even after showing 100% on the loading screen, and it worked only 1 time in the local region and when i tried to connect to other regions it didn't worked. please look into the lag and frame rate issue.- 1 reply
